what's it do? or rather, how does it do it?
Just look up "needle gun."
Has anyone shot one of these? Specifically the 4" barrel? I'm curious just how the bottom-aligned barrel affects the felt recoil.
I have a Rhino with a 5 inch barrel. .357 out of it feels pretty good, pushes straight backwards instead of upwards. 38 special out of it feels like .22lr.

Sounds good. Is it pleasant to own? I'm thinking of getting one for range use, as it seems pretty interesting and quite fun. Plus I like the bulldog looks. What's the average going rate on one?

I got mine used at a gun show for 825, but I've seen most of the versions retail between 850-$1,000 depending on the size and finish. It's a nice little range toy, just make sure you get a one that was manufactured recently so you don't get a shitty trigger group that breaks.

avt36 since 30-06 isnt really an intermediate cartridge
AVT's sucked though :v:
It was a semi-auto rifle that they (very shortsightedly) modified to work automatically, but it failed because the weapon (predictably) overheated and broke, so was only used in semi-auto anyway.

well yeah but it's in the same boat as the semi auto 1903. Useless or outdated by the time it was to be put into service.
It was an interesting concept though.
I don't think it was really even a concept they intended on doing, they just had a shortage of automatic weapons and thought they could fix it by producing automatic rifles out of a weapon designed only for semi-automatic fire.

AK-12 now in carbine flavor
Is that a mock up or did they move the charging handle to the left side? or is that a lefty version?
I thought they stopped work on the AK-12 and decided they weren't going to use it?
I thought they stopped work on the AK-12 and decided they weren't going to use it?
I thought it had been officially accepted to replace the AK-74M?
I thought it had been officially accepted to replace the AK-74M?
No, thats the AK 100 series and the AN-94. The AK-12 only just recently completed it's testing.

The Russian Military will be receiving AK-12s in 2014 (supposedly) but probably just the spec-ops guys will be using them, kinda like how our spec-ops guys use the SCAR 17.
I posted this a few pages back, but I'll post it again for those who missed it:
