Thats what I am saying.
huh?? pretty much every rifle past the 1800's was issued with a sling. if you're asking why rifles have slings instead of carry handles, it's because it's a million times easier to carry a rifle slung over your shoulder than it is to carry it in your hand; its much less cumbersome and awkward that way. Plus a carry handle on most rifles would be redundant because you can fit your whole hand around the rifle's receiver anyways.
Slings are easier to make and aren't made out of metal, that's why.
Thats not what I ment. I was aking, why make carrying handles if there is a sling.
Another good gun.
I found another mace-gun. I don't think it was Henry VIII's though: [T]http://www.safetygirl.com/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/G/R/GRLPPRS1000025144_-00_Mace-Security-International-Mace-Pepper-Gun-with-Flashing-Strobe_3.jpg[/T]
"Flashing Strobe", so what, it fires trance concerts?
Don't get mad or anything, but in black ops that gun was really good, infact in the game using SMG's gave you a much better sort of feel than in any of the newer games.
I still haven't unlocked it.
Thats not what I ment. I was aking, why make carrying handles if there is a sling.
Look at the LMG's and GPMG's I posted. Consider how much those weigh. When you need to make a quick sprint between buildings or across an open field, it's going to be easier to carry it by it's carry handle than it is to sling it over your shoulder. The carry handle much of the time is connected to the barrel, so that way you can swap out overheated barrels without having to touch the barrel or put on a glove (which back then they were made of a carcinogenic material)
Why does the M16 have a carrying handle?

[editline]29th September 2013[/editline] You know, never mind. We are off topic, have an ugly gun:
Why does the M16 have a carrying handle?
It was originally there to protect the charging handle, but then the charging handle was moved and I guess they decided to leave the handle there so they wouldn't have to redesign the irons. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline]
I am talking about the rifles, not the MGs.
Like I said, most rifles you can carry with either a sling, or just by just grasping the receiver. Bolt actions back then weren't really cumbersome to begin with to justify putting on a carry handle. They typically weighed around 8 or 9 pounds, which for a trained soldier used to carrying 100-150 pounds of gear for 20 miles a day, is pretty much nothing.
I was asking why do some newer rifles have a handle when the older heavier ones don't.
Only one I can think of is an M-16, which newer variants have flat tops with rails on them. Like I said, M-16's had the carry handle because it was originally meant to protect the charging handle from damage before it was moved to the rear of the rifle. The charging handle was on top of the receiver with the AR-10 design, but was moved to the rear of the rifle instead for the M-16/AR-15
Ok. I get it. Discussion over. Here have an Axe-gun: [T]http://www.rockislandauction.com/photos/1017/p_standard/VHK26-T-F2-L.jpg[/T]
Is that a shotgun or a grenade launcher?
A grenade launcher.
A shotgun launcher.
A shotgun launcher.
Give me 5 minutes in photoshop
imagine firing all chambers at once
imagine firing all chambers at once
If you look it has a "3" mode.

Now have a funny looking gun:
If you look it has a "3" mode.
It's a double action only revolver, it can't do full auto or even semi automatic.
It's a double action only revolver, it can't do full auto or even semi automatic.
So what is the 3 about?
So what is the 3 about?
pretty sure thats whats called the safety. its so you don't shoot yourself in the foot with a 40mm dud.
Shotgun launcher complete. What am I doing with my life? [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] Wow that came out terribly.
pretty sure thats whats called the safety. its so you don't shoot yourself in the foot with a 40mm dud.
I know what a safety is. I don't get why it is marked as "3" though.
I know what a safety is. I don't get why it is marked as "3" though.
It's Bulgarian, for all we know it's an abbreviation or an acronym for on/off, safe/fire. I honestly don't know what else it could be because a revolver literally can not fire fully automatically or even semi-automatically because they don't have a gas system like a Unica 6 or a Webley style recoil system.

Right now, all it has to be is ugly. Or cool.
The SA80's also have carrying handles with built-in sights: Although I will admit that particular element of the design dates back to World War 2 and they're rail mounted and often removed.
