The SA80's also have carrying handles with built-in sights:

Although I will admit that particular element of the design dates back to World War 2 and they're rail mounted and often removed.
Considering how high they have to raise the sights on weapons like this and the M16, there's no real reason for them to not include the carrying handle. Even the G36 has a carrying handle integrated into the sight.

I think that has to do with it being a bullpup. The sights need to be higher, because a normal stock wouldn't work.
I just realised a normal stock wouldn't work on an AR15 type gun either, so the sights need to be higher too.
Whats with guns and carrying handles? Older guns didn't have them and I know those weigh more.
The M249, M240B and PKM have "carry handles" on their barrels, but they're actually used to help remove a hot barrel quickly for a barrel change.

G36 is like the AR style design, that carry handle is to protect it's charging handle from getting damaged or caught on clothes and stuff.
A lot of the guns posted with carry handles are MG's of sorts; weapons that wouldn't be fired from the shoulder. I would imagine repositioning an MG would be less awkward with a carry handle than with a sling. You have a more solid grip on the weapon so you can pick it up and put it down where you want. A sling kind of dangles the weapon and is good if you gonna be moving the weapon, but you usually will shoulder it to fire, unlike a machine gun that you are most likely mounting to a position and firing from a bipod.

As shown by the G36K/C though, the carrying handle isn't necessary to protect the charging handle, with the original optic they could have easily put a piece over it like they did with the C, the carrying handle seems like it was made out of convenience and not because it was necessary.
Now have a funny looking gun:

It melted
It melted
Nope, just a Vektor, also known for their CP-1:

I guess they liked their guns smooth and spacey.

I love that mod, Paranoia is the name. Also a lot of games seem to have the safety on for guns, such as Rainbow Six Vegas 1 n 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

Yeah, it's a really common error since the games that do use real guns for reference generally use civilian models and leave the safeties on. So often they'll be left in safe and/or have no full-auto/burst setting.
And the ones that don't place the selectors in positions that shouldn't be possible or just leave them off completely.
[t]http://www.imfdb.org/images/8/80/MW3-M16-4.jpg[/t]
Here for example is the self-declared M16a4 from MW3, which has its fire selector in the "I broke one so I put a second one underneath it" position.
Of course there are some that do it right, but that's not as funny.

And yeah Paranoia was fun.
I wonder when there was a bit more talk about some shotguns as I haven't checked this place all the time.

This has got to have been posted before, but I find the concept so amusing. No, you can't fire all three barrels at once. It's got a staged single trigger, but you can still get all three shots off pretty fast.
Edit: Here, have a Sjogren and a Browning Auto 5:

Looks like something out of Ace Combat. Google thinks it's an F-16, you have got me really interested.
it's not a real aircraft, I can tell you that much. Insignias and tail #'s are always a dead give away on aircraft.

Late reply, but the safety and hammer both kinda make it look like an OTS-33:

It appears that it is some form of vehicle that has surfaces that take advantage of the Bernoulli Effect to get lift.

Well no of course we won't its so small we can't see the logos, so we can't do the dead giveaway you mentioned last time.
Also google thinks its a guitar. or a belt. or a blackberry phone.
Sorry, it's a lil tough to find a large photo of it without it's name plastered in the photo

I went and fired my first gun the other day. It was one of these. it was fucking awesome.
I know what a safety is. I don't get why it is marked as "3" though.
Probably because 3 is a letter akin to Z.
I want to buy a double barrel shotgun, just for the purpose of chasing kids off my property.
