Out of curiosity, where'd the name minigun come from?
IIRC because the first minigun was a smaller version of the Vulcan.

That is one ugly-ass nugget.
[editline]4th November 2013[/editline]
Worst thing is, the wood on it is actually quite nice. The stock just looks like utter shit, and the barrel hilariously unfitting on that action. And the nugget itself, the magazine and the bolt of it, is really not a very pretty weapon, it only really works because it's a nugget.
The nugget?
The nugget?
Mosin Nagant. Legendary weapon, really too much for anyone to start anywhere with telling about it.

I like it, honestly. The out of place as hell adjustable stock, the sport-shooting style pistol grip, the massive free-floated chromed bull barrel with the hilariously tiny scope all makes for one ridiculous rifle, and I love it.
Anyone have the one site that linked to all the pictures of guns from around the world?
Anyone have the one site that linked to all the pictures of guns from around the world?
world.guns.ru has tons of pics and more than enough weapons history, features, specs, and other details
Mosin Nagant. Legendary weapon, really too much for anyone to start anywhere with telling about it.
No yeah, of course. Nugget, Nagant..
The US military was working on one (sort of) for a while, the XM214 "Microgun".

It never reached mass production though, probably because it's really, really impractical. The base gun itself weighed 10kg alone, when you added in the battery, the feed chute, a box of 1000 rounds of ammunition and the tripod to support all that (and you needed the tripod, the recoil was insane), it weighed almost 40kg. And on top of that, with its up to 6000rpm rate of fire, you'd be wasting ammo pretty much, oh yeah and the rechargable battery was only good for around 3000 rounds of continuous fire, so there was no reason to get rid of normal LMGs for it.
Mounted on a vehicle and fitted with a burst fire function would negate most of the problems
what's the point
in the role you're suggesting it'd literally be just a lower powered m134
what's the point

extreme ROF isn't necessarily a good thing. It puts a lot of stress on the weapon, more chances for failures than a lower ROF weapon, and can more quickly overheat. The rotary guns are used on aircraft is because an aircraft is a whole lot less stationary than a humvee is, so it needs more lead in and around it's target to negate it's accuracy issues.
sorry what
how does that relate to what i just said
sorry what

was saying that a burst fire platform wouldn't be a bad one
Burst 30 rounds of 5.56mm into a window (and the wall 1 meter surrounding it) in less than half a second... Sounds kinda useful.
I loved it when they make space nazis. They just look so damn cool. Like the Helghast.

But they just had to make you play as the fucking ISA.
Also, I remember there is a game with some crazy ass WW2 concepts.
Found it

Curiously enough, there's three sorts of donkey dicks. The common forwards-pointing one, the underfolder rear-curving one, and a rare straight-down one. One can only assume the direction of donkey-dick depends on how much it was buffed at the factory.

And this all is, of course, without counting the Hungarian AMD-65.

Also sporting a donkey dick like many others, it is often, but not always made of wood, and is, in fact, interchangable with the pistol grip, by just turning it 180 degrees.
After the fall of the iron curtain, many AMD-65s were melted down and made into graphics cards.

Man how I love it. One of my favorite fictional weapons. Looks like airsoft replica now, but at least they kept the main design.
And they redesigned ISA rifle? It was shit anyway so whatever
donkey dicks are atrocious

I just noticed, those rounds scattered around the AMD-65 aren't 7.62x39, they look like 7.62x51
AMD-65s are sexy. Dat muzzle flash.

It's very, very normal to scatter 7.62x51 around weapons when you take photos of them. Why? Because 7.62x51 is fucking beautiful.
It's not something you think about a lot, but let's compare some rounds.

7.62x39. What should be scattered around the AMD-65 to be correct. However, look at it. It's short, it's fat, it's case is all tapered, and it's case has an ugly, dark colour. Yes, there are brass 7.62x39, but this is the 'standard' FMJ, and it's not very pretty. Looks like a chode, most of all.

5.56x45 NATO. First off, it's tiny. Really, really tiny. Compare to a 7.62x51 and a battery and you see, it's... Very whimpy looking. It's quite long, but the bullet itself, at least the part that shows beyond that absurdly long case, is quite short and stumpy looking.

5.45x39. This one is hideous. It's the worst of both worlds, it got the fat chode body of the 7.62x39, and that tiny, odd-looking bullet from the 5.56. It looks like one of those crazy wildcat rounds that are made to just get stupid-high velocity and not fit in any magazines ever.

7.62x54mmR. It's uh... Long. It's very, very long. Rim is also unflattering, but-... Damn, that's a long case, and a long bullet.

.30-06. If we convert to metric, this is roughly a 7.62x63. BY. SIXTY THREE. That is one long-ass case, man. Bullet is short in comparison, even though that in itself is fairly long, too.

7.62x51 NATO. This one is just... Pleasing to look at. The case has that beautiful brass shine, the bullet a more reddish copper, like an Irish girl on the beach. The neck is pronounced, it clearly is a necked cartridge (unlike a 9x39 that hardly has any neck), but it's not long or slender or thin enough to make it look stretched. The length from base to tip is exellent, perfect to pick up between your thumb and forefinger and admire, turn and feel in your hand. The gradual, yet straight taper of the bullet guides the eye to it's pointed tip, and the almost straight walls are reminicent of a man in a tailor-fitted suit, upright and glowing with proud authority. Absolutely beautiful.

Oh, that thing. I've found a fair bit of made up weapons on it, actually. Like, photoshops that people were like, "Hey, this looks legit!"
Oh, Russian rotary designs are quite awesome, actually. Where American ones are all wusses and need an electric engine to rotate them, Russian ones are all self-powered, gas-operated beasts, from the small 7.62x54r ones right up to the 30mm GAU-8 competitors mounted on aircraft.
Of particular note (of awesomeness) is the 23mm GSh-6-23. This beast had an insane rate of fire of up to 12.000 rounds per minute. Sadly, it had some issues with reliability and rounds exploding prematurely (Not going off, exploding), which destroyed two planes in-flight, so it's no longer in use. Still mounted on aircraft, but without any ammo. Still a damn impressive, if not impractical, piece of mechanical artwork.
[editline]3rd November 2013[/editline]
And, of course, you can't quite talk rotary awesomeness without touching on this baby.
