• Coolest/Ugliest Weapons V5 - Bullpup AKs are the best

Something I stumbled upon a while ago when talkin' about shotgun pistols and such with my Cyberpunk RPG group: the LeMat revolver! Alright, it looks like a regular Civil War era revolver. Wait - why does it have two barrels? Well, the lower one holds a 16ga (or 20ga, depending on the version) shotgun shell. It's a built in holdout weapon! Not to mention that the regular revolver part packs nine .36 or .44 bullets. Which is three more than regular revolvers of the era. Kind of a huge advantage when reloading under fire is pretty much impossible and at the very least really hard. And c'mon, it's a revolver with a shotgun on it. And they make black powder replicas, too, so getting ahold of one nowadays isn't that tough. And it just looks plain mean, look at the bastard. Deffo a cool weapon. Oh, yeah, and one of my players just used a made up modern version with a laser sight to kill four people in a single combat round, while firing from the hip. :v:
The LeMat was cool and all but seems like it would fall about pretty quickly, maybe it's just me.
So, you guys know what weapon everyone loves, but it's really kinda shitty? [t]http://www.wallsave.com/wallpapers/1600x900/sniper/281517/sniper-rifle-svd-dragunov-281517.jpg[/t] The SVD. It looks good. Damn good. Holy fucking shit, does it ever look nice. Dem curves, dat stock, those sexy, slender stamp-lines running up and down it's body... But it sucks. It's not freefloated, it got a pencil barrel with a too tight twist rate and no full rifling and it's stamped nature leads to a somewhat worse parts-fit than a milled weapon would have. This all ads up to a rifle that's just plain-out... Inaccurate. The original SVDs shot a decent average of 1.2 MOA or so, which is the US highest margin of what they let marksman rifles shoot, but the ones with new barrels refitted for modern ammunition has a rather horrible 2.2 or worse MOA. Compare this to the modern versions of the M14 EBR, which fire a very impressive 0.89 MOA, and you see how bad it is for a supposed sniper/marksman weapon. It has an excuse, however; not being made as a sniper or marksman weapon at all. The original role of the SVD was... Kinda strange. Not too unlike the DMR of today's militaries, it was to give the squad a soldier with a longer range, out to 5-600 meters, since the switch from nuggets to AKs kinda took a lot of range from the average infantry squad. The scope and renaming from "semi automatic rifle" to "sniper rifle" in it's designation came later. So that's the SVD. Kind of... The Miss South Carolina of the firearms world. Not too sharp, but god damn it, I would rack-tap-bang that beauty any day, all day.
I always loved the Russian design on the PSO (I believe?) scopes. The built in reference points for figuring out range and the chevrons to aim with are nice. The SVD may well be inaccurate, but it is a true beauty.
1.2 MOA isn't bad. I can get 1 MOA out of my PSL [editline]10th November 2013[/editline]
I always loved the Russian design on the PSO (I believe?) scopes.
1.2 MOA isn't bad. I can get 1 MOA out of my PSL
1.2 is fairly not-good for a marksman rifle. Not too bad, but certainly not good. Problem is the new/rearsenal ones. They shoot 2.2 MOA.
I would buy an SVD if they didn't cost a shit ton, i prefer ye olde AK on steroids. 2.2 MOA is bad, what round did they switch to? why ditch glorious 54r?
Russia is more about flinging lots of lead rather than going for accuracy.

[editline]10th November 2013[/editline] Still 54r. Just more modern rounds. Which fucked over classic man-killers.
Can someone explain to me what the fuck this is?

Cool, another rifle that used clips that sat inside a fixed magazine. Gewehr 88. I found a modernised M1 that's sexy as fuck.
railed forrend cover does not equal modernization.
yes it needs more rails and a grenade launcher and a backup swing out holosight and a peq19 and a flashlight and a gripod
Wouldn't a modernized M1 be an M14? :v:
Wouldn't a modernized M1 be an M14? :v:
p much yeh
yes it needs more rails and a grenade launcher and a backup swing out holosight and a peq19 and a flashlight and a gripod
More like "It needs to be an M14EBR", which is still hardly a proper modernization. Modernization of firearms is kind of silly, really. Even the best performance you can squeeze out of a firearm outdated enough to need to be modernized will still be beat by a regular, proper modern rifle.
yeah but buying a $1,000 chassis for an M-21 or M-14 is a lot cheaper than paying HK 40 trillion dollars to buy some fancy new DMR.
Well, first civie FN SCAR H I found is $3k with 3 mags. A SAGE EBR chassis is $800, and M1A's seem to run between 1.3k and 2k. I'd gladly pay $500 more on average for the SCAR. [editline]10th November 2013[/editline] Speaking of FN SCAR... Also the front sight and charging handle are both missing.

Not exactly the most practical of carbines...

Yeah you can't just put a 1911 together have it cycle perfect, you've got to grind the areas where the slide and receiver meet and smooth the action out. even then you have to shoot it some to break it.
