He looks back to make sure he didn't accidentally shoot any of his buddies in the face.

Well at least he doesn't have the sights set to 1 kilometer, like the average Syrian rebel does.
HU-1 Iroquois, aka 'Huey'.
Having played Take on Helicopters, I hate this heli.

Try it in DCS, you'll probably change your mind.
I'm pretty sure the Huey was factually terrible too.
During the war 7,013 UH-1s served in Vietnam and of these 3,305 were destroyed. In total 1,074 Huey pilots were killed, along with 1,103 other crew members.[24]
Pretty sure the Vietnam war was factually terrible.
The Huey was in the war. Coincidence? Wake up!
Best gun from the Specialists.
The Contender and the MP5SD were apart of my favorite loadout in that game.

Always had a thing for poleaxes.

A lot of people imagine the knight in shining armour using his longsword when he's fighting on foot but to me, it's the knight and the poleaxe.

It gets the job done better (killing other men in plate armour) than swords. It's a shame you don't get to see too much of it in games.

Also, anyone who's interested in medieval + renaissaince arms and armour should check out this guy on flickr. He has over 131 sets and over 2000 thousand photos of arms and armour in museums all over the world.
UH-1*
It's original designation was HU-1, though.
Good ol' Sturmgewehr with a Zielgerat 1229, a infrared scope.

Was that IR sight ever used? As in combat?
Well at least he doesn't have the sights set to 1 kilometer, like the average Syrian rebel does.
Setting the sights for longer ranges makes the bullets go further
Was that IR sight ever used? As in combat?
It was succesfully tested (in combat) by Panzergrenadier units in 1945 in very small numbers.
They also used scopes similar to this one on tanks and other vehicles.

Here you can see a Panther with a infared scope for example:

And another one on an MG42 and the halftrack itself:

That kind of stuff makes you wonder how the war would have progressed had it gone on a few more years
That kind of stuff makes you wonder how the war would have progressed had it gone on a few more years
It also makes me wonder what would happen if somebody time traveled and brought in stuff like fals G3s and Helicopters, Advanced jet engines kind of interesting
Pretty sure the Vietnam war was factually terrible.
That doesn't mean everything about the war was bad.
The M-16 is pretty nice, right?

The Vietnam era M-16 was incredibly bad actually.
I'm pretty sure the Huey was factually terrible too.
It flew almost 30million missions..
Those are pretty good numbers, considering this was the first combat purpose helicopter (with the technology still in its infancy).
I'm pretty sure the Huey was factually terrible too.
9,000 B-17's were lost in combat during WWII. Does that mean the B-17 was a shit aircraft? (hint: NO). That just means that Fritz's interceptors and Triple A were deadly as a mother fucker.

Germany probably still would have lost. Germany's main issue was that they attacked Russia and Declared war on the US around the same time. So their villages were being raped and oil fields burned on the eastern front, and they had to deal with US and British firebombing by B-17's on the western front. On top of all that, they were using slave labor for a lot of their productions. Panther's were pretty OK tanks, but they would have done a lot better if they didn't have slaves drilling holes in the road wheels and pissing in the oil and gasoline.
The M1941 Johnson LMG:
[t]http://static4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110720205041/world-war-2/images/b/b3/Johnson_LMG.jpg[/t]
This thing was mostly issued to Allied commando's and special forces, units like the Devil's brigade.
considering this was the first combat purpose helicopter (with the technology still in its infancy).
False! the first combat purpose helicopter was the Flettner Fl 282
"During the Battle of the Bulge a formation of five of these aircraft conducted the world's first helicopter strike against armour. Operating low over the Ardennes Forest they destroyed two American tanks at a loss of two of their own, one to a British Spitfire, the other to groundfire"

I've always loved heavier caliber weapons with side magazines, like the FG42. Just a certain charm about them.
The Vietnam era M-16 was incredibly bad actually.
Wasn't it pretty alright aside from requiring periodical maintenance, but the soldiers were told it required none whatsoever and thus the widespread malfunctions and shitty reputation?
