'Assault pistol' was a term coined after the Columbine shootings to ban the Tec 9. Basically, it's a pistol with the magazine not in the grip. Which, you know, is generally a less effective and 'deadly' (measuring the deadliness of guns is kinda dumb, but whatever) design than a regular pistol, due to more bulk and shorter barrel length compared to full length.
Yes, but I was talking about what would constitute a true "Assault Pistol", i.e. G18, VP70M, M93R, OTS-33, Stechkin APS, Mauser M1930/ M1932. They all are true pistols that are select fire, like a true Assault Rifle; I was adapting the term. Though I suppose if you follow the definition of the german word, Maschinenpistole, coined to define them, it would encompass any select fire weapon firing pistol cartridges. Its all semantics in the end anyways.
i believe "machine pistol" in english is used for selective fire handguns while "sub-machine gun" is for two hand firearms firing pistol cartridges? in norwegian, just as in german, maskinpistol just means any selective fire gun shooting pistol cartridges
Not always; there are several companies who have called sub-compact 5.56mm assault rifles PDWs or even "submachineguns". Like I said, the naming conventions become semantics after awhile.
I feel that they're too dark, the highlight aren't bright enough. Looking at them makes me want to turn the monitor brightness up, but it's already at max.
They're photographic art, not simply photographs of guns. Artists often use soft lighting or faint silhouettes to convey a mood to the viewer.

Like I said, the naming conventions become semantics after awhile.
but submachine guns are, in fact, machine guns that fire sub-rifle caliber rounds; thus the name. Even if bushwacker or some other ASSALT RAFLE company calls a AR pistol a submachine gun, that doesn't make it one. PDW is closer to the mark.

Not sure I really like the look of Matte polymers, I think a bit of gloss and sheen looks nicer
Not sure I really like the look of Matte polymers, I think a bit of gloss and sheen looks nicer
I'm sure the guy trying to spot you through his scope thinks so too.

But I found it to be somewhat annoying in this case.

[t]http://z.enha.kr/pds/f/f8/Groza/%EA%B3%A0%EC%9E%90.jpg[/t] OTs-14 Groza. Literally just a bullpup AK in 9x39. How much of a straight chop-job AK is it? Well... Look at the spot below the carrying handle. See that wood? That's the upper handguard of an AK.
Meanwhile in Syria. Also.. the Mosin Javelin. Absolutely beast in CQC with a lasersight and hip-firing (empties fast though), and still works as a long-ranged weapon firing single-shots through nothing less than the Russian Kobra X1 red dot scope. Not really a dot, but anyway here's a pic. (Being a gas-masked RUS Engineer with that weapon was awesome, had some really nice infantry montages after my vehicle got destroyed.) Also, only semi-related, but holy hell that top-left reticle would be shit. I know it's decent in BF4, but it's tighter there, too. The real life one shown got like, three men's width at 100 yards, how'd you ever hit anything using that?

But you know distances/aiming don't even really mean heck of a lot in video games, especially if the weapon is configured as ridiculously accurate, because well it's a limited screen. But then again haven't some killer war vet snipers used X1 scopes in general, and accumulated the most kills/headshots? Probably not at too great distances though.. but 100 yards doesn't seem impossible?

[editline]22nd December 2013[/editline] And real people generally don't record 'head shots'. A kill is a kill, no matter if it severs the brainstem or it just cuts the artery in the thigh and results in fatal bleeding. Shooting for the head is considered by most to be rather unreliable; a tiny target compared to upper torso area which'll kill you every bit as dead.

Headshots are glorified by vidya games.
but there's a prong in the middle to line it up with the target. doesn't seem like a very practical reticule though.
There's no actual anything on or near the point of impact, only three distant lines that you have to connect in your mind. Decent for very close ranges, I guess, but quite shit for longer. Especially if you're not holding your gun perfectly vertical.
Just saying the German version is spelled "Maschinenpistole".
Swedish version is better Kulsprutepistol
What on earth is that and what does it shoot? :v:
Syrian garage AT rifle. Probably made to fire 14, 23, or 30mm rounds they stripped off an aircraft.
Swedish version is better Kulsprutepistol
Oh god, that's adorable! For all you non-Scandies out there, it roughly translate to ball spitting pistol. [editline]22nd December 2013[/editline] I can just imagine the board-meeting when they came up with that. "Hejdu Svanke!" "Jaa, Gustaf?" "Se mina nya pistol her!" "For hälvada, Gustav! Du skjytta som en drucken Finna!" "Hjold på kjäftan din, mera kugla er betta kugla! Min pistol sprutta kugla som en nyfödd kalv sprutta skitt!"

I would believe the correct translation would be bullet spraying pistol. Could be wrong though. Kulsprutepistol is often referred to as K-Pist though, which is a shortening of kulsprutepistol.
Or Bullet squirting gun since Kula can mean both bullet,Bead,Den and Lair. :)
Pretty much the same in Danish, but 'ball spitting pistol' is every bit as correct and a little funnier than 'bullet spewing pistol'. [editline]22nd December 2013[/editline] [sp]Also, all swedes are named either Svanke or Gustav. Science Fact from the Danish Institute of Swedeologi.[/sp]
OR Björn
Or you know Roy since its my name.
I realize this, but if I remember right some article about Häyhä did mention head-shots for some reason, in some context.
Well he was shot with an exploding bullet in the jaw.
