I still have no idea how that thing is supposed to work, the magazine well is about halfway down the barrel, while the ejection port is right above the trigger, and there doesn't appear to be any type of charging handle assembly.
This the Fallout universe we're talking about here.
The same universe where robot dogs and solar powered death rays, and giant robots were considered "good ideas" for the pre war military.
cyborgs, lasers and giant robots are always good ideas

Maybe the shell is extracted out the back of the magazine, then moved up to the chamber? So it's a hybrid tube/drum magazine?

That does seem to be the most plausible explanation, although that still doesn't explain how one would manually chamber a round

Maybe the second trigger thing actuates the mechanism as well as acting as a safety? I don't know, I'm clutching at straws here.

Personally I think the closest thing to a logical possibility would be that the front rod acts as a sort of gas piston, and that when fired it is pushed backward, which in turn pushes a round backward and up into the chamber while ejecting the old shell, then it springs forward and spring tension in the magazine causes another round to rotate up into the ready position. So to manually chamber you'd have to pull that back.

This beat up piece of firewood and scrap metal can blow the head off of pretty much anything in the game, Legion assassins, BoS paladins, deathclaws, it's only drawback is that the iron sights are fucked and the shots go off to the right.
[editline]5th January 2014[/editline]
Well, that and the fact it's bolt-action.
Gave this weapon some good love in New Vegas. (Although with some better weapon textures.)
Fiends, Powder Gangers, Red Khans, Legionnaires, none were safe. Except the NCR luckily.

I don't know why ducted fans aren't used more regularly. They're more effective than unducted ones
Maybe the weight they add is too much for larger applications, because they also need to be able to support themselves and be rigid?
Hope you guys are in a mood to accept video game submissions, some days your cool with it, others days y'all jump on it and try to crucify me.
I've gone on record saying Warframe has most horrible weapon designs, and I still hold to it. Some of them are JUST FUCKING AWFUL
But there's one gun I love in it:

... (~dat clipping~)
I know a bunch of you guys probably all vomited in your mouths because its not a real gun or some shit, but fuck it I think it's pretty cool. Something about it strikes me as a very neat sci-fi gun design, a good blend of weird and totally unrealistic design without looking too stupid... Well compared to some of the OTHER GUNS IN THE GAME.
Shame its not very good...
It looks very different stylistically from the rest of the game because its a holdover from the old version of Dark Sector before it got butchered by publishers. What a shame... But it eventually became Warframe so it all worked out.
So coolest? Ugliest? Whatever, it has charm in my eyes.

Looks like a gun out of Mass Effect.

I have always had a massive boner for the M1917

Just how crude it is.
That and the fact it was water cooled. And when clean water was hard come by, piss cooled.

I actually always had a soft spot for this thing. Yeah a lot of ME3's look like Nerf guns, but this design stuck with me.
It really did a good job of evoking the clean utopian 80s Sci-Fi feeling of the first game, for a gun at least, IMO.
(although ME1's was the M7, not M8, but semantics)

I always had a thing for those big covers over the barrel, but I'm sort of completely firearm illiterate. Is it just a heat shield or is it for some other purpose?

Water jacket for water cooling the gun, as opposed to air cooled.
Since we're talking about M1919s, ANM2 "Stinger"

how riot cops should be
I love how they just charged the fence and knocked over everyone behind it

I swear every charge has more photographers than police :v:

I love how you can see them mark individuals with paintballs, then do little five - ten man charges in to grab one rioter and drag him or her out. Efficient as fuck, man.

They are so nice and well ordered when compared to the Ukranian riot police. (Warning, people get beaten in this video.)

i think its some sort of semi-automatic shotgun with something like this

would be the only thing that makes sense

Man, and the Danish rioters went all cry-baby over freezing their butts when they got cuffed.

because longer helicopter blades don't need to rotate nearly as fast as those shorter ones to lift the aircraft, also note the lack of attatchment or drive system for those futuristic fans, they just seem to rotate in the housing without any drive system

That's just an extended magazine. Since shotguns have tubular magazines, the only place to add an extension that would make sense would be the end of the barrel, which is also where the magazine ends.

riot shotgun anyone ?
Or the Sawed-Off Shotgun, with Coin shots. It's fucking beautiful, and the damage is insane.

Magazine doesn't have to end at the end of the barrel.

With a cylinder choke, you can go about a foot and a half out from the muzzle before pellets hitting the tube gets to be a concern.
[editline]5th January 2014[/editline]
You will, of course, get a dirty-ass tube-extension due to carbon fouling getting all over it, but it's nothing that'll harm it at all.
Man, and the Danish rioters went all cry-baby over freezing their butts when they got cuffed.
Yeah, I'm glad we live in a country where people pissing off the police can complain about the cold weather, and not being beaten and kicked while lying down by 4 brutes from the special police.
