Well, I meant it real life with current tech. GPMG on a steadycam-rig is, at first glance, a fairly good idea, weight-distribution and stability-wise. Once you think about it, however, it becomes kinda shoddy.

star wars probably did it right when it came to weapons on screen, but thats probably because weapons were not really a huge part of star trek anyways in fact one of the books they built this kick ass rail-gun that had almost limitless ammo and could pierce anything, and if it couldn't it could materialise railgun shells through the target, but they never produced it because it was too deadly for them

Actually from an aiming standpoint, the basis for the technology does exist, look at FELIN and Land Warrior, both of those setups included a sight and eyepiece that allowed a soldier to aim down their gun without actually looking down the sights.

Oh yes, I know the whole cam-to-small-HUD thing exist, but it's fairly useless compared to a glass optic due to being more fragile, requiring power, and having resolution and tiny delay and framerate problems which optics don't.
eh i would say with today's smartphone hardware being cleared for spaceflight, this is increadibly easy to do the HUD technology hasn't quite matured to the point they want, also it has to be compatable with night-vision goggles, i would not be supprised if in 3-4 years you don't start seeing these systems becomming prevalent espeacially with the military's push for exoskeletons or mobility assisting devices, which already have power

The part in First Contact when the crew bands together and arms up is amazing, especially because of these guns. Shame they can only fire them like, what, 12 times?

Which, while not actually FAMAS derived, was designed to have similar ergonomics to be more familiar to Croatian soldiers.

thats against the borg which have their own personal shields so it only works for at best 12 shots before they nullify it, on voyager they used those things for hours of firefights without ever recharging same in insurection they used only a handful of them to fend off a fleet of drone-bomber things

apparently the early versions of the gun used 10, 5 round magazines built into one magazine, it was fed through the gun and it would just drop off the other side, unfortunatly this action often dented the magazine which caused it to fail, that or mud, dirt, or anything else would cause it to fail.

They had one of these on Pawn Stars. Woman only had the pistol and wanted $100 for it. Rick goes: "They still make these today and you can get the pistol, some flares and ammo in a kit for $80." Offered her $40 for it. That's insane. They are closer to $140, some even go over $4,000.

I absolutely hate that show for that very reason. I understand you have to turn a profit but when you have your convenient "expert" for everything under the sun say something is worth tens of thousands right in front of the customer and then try to offer them maybe $100 for it? Fucking ridiculous. A proper collector would pay eons more, maybe close to the actual value, than that fuck ever would.
You know those shows are faker than hell right? At least the one they had in Louisiana for a short time was heavily scripted with loads of bs added to the mix. I wouldn't even doubt that the vegas one isn't authentic either.
