With the doses I'm looking at, you're looking at 6 Sv within 400m, which is gonna give you acute radiation sickness before you get a chance of cancer, you'd be looking at something like 95% fatality rate without prompt medical treatment, and over 50% fatality rate with prompt medical treatment.
As for 100 Sv or more within 150m, what in the flying fuck is that dose jesus christ you're fucking dead, holy shit.
As impractical and bulky as it may have turned out to be, I find that most of the XM29 OICW versions looked pretty fucking cool.

Loved the version in Soldier of Fortune II, if you mapped the buttons to it it was flat out overpowered, if fun. Literally nothing could match it.

which is why tactical nuclear weapons are a catch 22, you can build them to a lower yeild (the army had a 1 kiloton bomb that was very efficient) to shoot them further, but at the same time you want the a big enough blast to merit their use over conventional artillery and then you need to get the thing to be light enough to transport

Yeah, low yield portable devices are going to leave a lot of radioactive material to disperse on explosion - it won't all react, whilst huge bombs are able to get yields much closer to 100% and thus blast less radioactive material around.

actually its slightly opposite, efficiency completely depends on the core of the bomb, as such for standerdisation there was a design that was in the upper 90%s on efficiency and had a blast yeild of around 1 kiloton, but such high efficiency designs tended to appear early on in our weapon development by the mid to late 50s weapons had moved on past efficiency as fissile material was plentiful by then. now there is a way to deliberatly make radiation by adding short lived isotobes of elements that "salt" the bomb to produce deadly long lived radioactive particles

Ahh, I see. So it's basically a dirty bomb combined with the actual nuclear explosive, the core is all fissile material, undergoes the chain reaction and explodes, whilst it's got other radioactive material that's not intended to split and is used deliberately to get as many radioactive particles in the air?

well warheads like the davy crocket actually don't contain enough fissile material to actually go nuclear, what they rely on instead is the very powerful explosives surrounding it to compress the smaller core to criticality. salted bombs are essentially doomsday weapons, they detonate and release dirty particles. the larger a bomb is, the more inefficient it tends to be though apparently the force of the explosion actually sends more radiactive particles up into the upper atmosphere

Depends on weather holding that thing the guy is holding and spraying that smoke down someones throat will kill them. If so then yes and if no it then depends on weather the smoke will blind them. If the smoke causes cancer or something else unpleasant later on in life then it also counts.
They are all wearing masks and that smoke is a scary yellowish colour so I think you are in the clear.
