L85A2 with DD rail and SpecterDR w/ Doctor RDS and AFG
I am foaming at the mouth at this.
that was actually a thing i found out a few days ago: the SUSAT is being replaced by both the 4x fixed SpecterDR AND the ACOG. For some reason.
also they normally come with LLM01 laser/light modules, but those are being swapped out for upgraded LLM-VM systems. Swag.
I always liked the L85's handguards, but rails on it look very very nice. Also SUSAT sucks, I'm honestly amazed that Brit Infantry can hit a fucking thing with it.
Man, the trigger guard on the L85 always looks so silly and out of place to me. It's the way it curves, I think.
That and the trigger itself always looks so broken to me, although more so on these modern L85's then on a basic one.
well dude what would you prefer?
this?

Can someone explain the scope, why the bottom part is sorta transparent? I thought the gun had an error when I downloaded the L85 gun SWEP in Gmod back in like 2009 where I was still a idiot.

I would imagine it is an attempt to reduce the area of the optic that is obscured to assist with target acquisition, might be wrong however.
So my country just made two new guns:
Singapore's defence industry unveiled two new 5.56mm combat rifles at this week's Singapore Airshow 2014, including a weapon billed as the "shortest bullpup design in the world" (above, left).
Developed by the weapons labs of Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK), the bullpup rifle bears a superficial resemblance to STK's SAR-21 5.56mm assault rifle. However, the firing mechanism and front ejection for spent cartridges suggests that the SAR-21 - the standard infantry weapon fielded by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) - underwent a major engineering redesign to transform it into the new weapon.
An STK statement said:"Giving infantry soldiers maximum lethality in urban operations, ST Kinetics’ new combat rifles are designed for compactness, minimum weight and full ambidextrous operations in a highly configurable multirole package.
"The STK BMCR (Bullpup Multirole Combat Rifle) and STK CMCR (Conventional Multirole Combat Rifle) possess multirole flexibility for assault, marksman/sharpshooter and suppressive roles, putting the infantry section ahead in lethality and in achieving their mission objectives. Both rifles are designed to fire NATO SS109 5.56mm ammunition and ST Kinetics’ Extended Range 5.56mm ammunition, and come standard with MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny Rails at the three, six, nine and 12 o’clock positions.
"The STK BMCR is designed to be the shortest bullpup-design in the world, to afford easy handling by the soldier even in tight spaces. The STK CMCR, meanwhile, is designed with a unique buttstock design that allows the rifle to be folded and adjusted for maximum compactness during use."
The standard SAR-21 measures 805mm in length while the cutdown SAR-21 Modular Mounting System is a more compact 680mm from muzzle to butt. STK literature did not reveal vital statistics for the BMCR, apart from the unsubstantiated claim that the rifle is the shortest bullpup design in the world.
I am fully aware of how much the SUSAT blows; I was merely questioning why to issue the ACOG AND the SpecterDR. Why not just one?

pretty sure the ACOGS were adopted a few years ago, maybe they're getting specters from now on, since they have way better eye relief and etc.

I'm not sure about their claims, but they both look pretty sweet.

Skeletonized AR lower, personally I think it's an ugly bad idea. If you want a lighter AR, do something other than fully exposing the trigger mechanisms.

Lately I've been associating all new guns made by countries that aren't gun-famous with the INSAS and the new Indian gun, thanks for giving me hope again.
Why is the SUSAT bad?

That's actually tactical genius, that is. I mean, in Europe, so much of a given country's military mobility depended on the rails.
That's actually tactical genius, that is. I mean, in Europe, so much of a given country's military mobility depended on the rails.
It is kind of a strategic declaration of bankruptcy, though. Sure, you make it hard for your foes to advance where you retreat; but makes it even harder for you to retake the areas. You gotta be pretty damn sure that you're losing to use it, in which case you're only buying time.
well the germans practiced scortched earth, plus its both an offensive and defensive weapon, apparently russians used different gauge rails from the germans, so when they moved into an area they needed to re-lay the rails and this is a somewhat effective mean to quickly change up the ties, also it is an effective way to rip up the rails in your retreat, which was what these plows were designed for
[editline]23rd February 2014[/editline]
as for the rail eater, its design was so that the rails were rendered totally unusable by damaging the rails themselves with .50 cal AP bullets and just totally scattering the shit everywhere, but i doubt it was ever actually fielded since the allies never really had much use for it and because the plows just work much better

And bulky, and awkward to reload, and prone to jamming, and easier to break, and more expensive.

Might as well use that as a club when you run out of ammo, damn that thing looks heavy.
but how would you even insert the mag? don't you have to angle it in?

Fixed that for ya.
That is interesting, I've only ever heard of 5.56 to 5.45 mag conversions.

heavy maybe? also impossible to reload on site, and being mechanically complicated as well as just way more expensive than regular mags

Not sure if anyone here is a fan of Fallout: new Vegas but somebody made a mod which contains a scratch-made model of our favourite weapon!
