Knew about that. Look at things like Veprs and Tantals, though, not all modernized AK types are really 74Ms with rails and folding stocks with the cutout for the siderail.
TP-82, Cosmonaut survival weapon. Used for wilderness survival when the pod lands in a forest or something. (Or when aliens are attacking)
The stock doubles as a cleaver manchete thing right? I find that pretty cool.
Heres where the russians get their tacticool kit http://www.zenitco.ru/catalog/1717/
the add to cart button doesn't work
the add to cart button doesn't work
they secretly despise it but to prevent tactifags from being butthurt they had to add it to their site
The bottom right, the fuck are those rails doing?
So you can get your neckweld on, duh!
The bottom right, the fuck are those rails doing?

The bottom right, the fuck are those rails doing?
Looks like that AK's trying to disguise itself as an OICW.
I got it to work http://www.zenitco.ru/en/cart/ 10,000 RUB, its like $320
the add to cart button doesn't work

The bottom right, the fuck are those rails doing?
It's a shame I already have a cheese grater...
Yes, but this one is on an AK; now you can kill your food, cook it, dress it up, eat it and have a seat all with the same tool.
It's a shame I already have a cheese grater...

The bottom right, the fuck are those rails doing?
are these like uhh benchmark tacticool AKs? [editline]2nd May 2013[/editline] because i really don't see the point in putting THAT MUCH shit on a gun other than trying to set a record.
The bottom right, the fuck are those rails doing?
AK dust covers aren't welded on or held on with a hinge. They're just held in place by the recoil spring, which is constantly moving. Because it's not secured well and is secured by something thats constantly wobbling, the dust cover wobbles like crazy and if you mount a rail and scope to it, you'll constantly lose your zero. Thats why the classic AK rail is on the left side of the receiver, not the dust cover, as you can see in the first 3 photos. The point of the last rail set is to negate the side rail and just have it mounted on the foregrip rail set, which of course looks silly and a side rail would do the job much better.

The dust covers are not mounted in the same way
So does that mean that the sights on Galil and RK-62 rifles are just worthless or mounted in some special way?
It's not as big an issue with iron sights. Plus I don't really know much about the galil other than it's adapted from AK's, the dust cover might be hinged or mounted in a different way.
It's held on differently, yeah.
Thread needs some VAL.
The dust covers are not mounted in the same way
Alright, follow up question: why is it that no genuine AK model has upgraded to the Galil's means of mounting?
Alright, follow up question: why is it that no genuine AK model has upgraded to the Galil's means of mounting?
they have, hinged dust covers stop the wobble and allow for mounting sights. I still wouldn't mount a sight to a dust cover when I have a perfectly well designed side rail. The AK12 also has a hinged dust cover, but because Izmash LIED TO AMERICA, we haven't seen any AK12's in the US yet so we can't get any pictures of it.
I've heard it both ways about dust cover optics mounts versus side rail mounts, I went with the TWS and mounted a Rakurs PM atop it with very accurate results. Lets hope the AK12s top rail isnt plastic like the VEPR12s is...that thing has issues if you mount an optic over the ejection port. You get a jam on extraction. potentially raging retard question: why are miniguns called miniguns when they're actually fucking huge in comparison to most firearms

i'm sure once the ak12 becomes a popular civie rifle, they'll make ak12 style dust covers for all the other popular civie aks out there
I've never seen an AK irl, or know all that much about them, but is it possible to take the AK-12's upper, and slap it onto an AK-74?
AK's don't have upper and lower receivers like AR's do. An AK is just a receiver, which contains the trigger group, mag well, recoil spring, and bolt carrier (a long with some other parts). I haven't seen the internals of an AK-12, but I would be willing to bet that the only interchangeable parts between old AK rifles and the new AK-12, is magazines. The dust cover is just a piece of stamped steel thats held in place by the button on the end of the recoil spring, all it does is keep dirt and dust out of the receiver, thus the name "dust cover"
potentially raging retard question: why are miniguns called miniguns when they're actually fucking huge in comparison to most firearms
because in comparison to almost every other rotary in use they're relatively small and fire a relatively small round
Ah, thanks. I was just thinking, it's pretty neat with it's picatinny rail.
because in comparison to almost every other rotary in use they're relatively small and fire a relatively small round
what is "almost every other rotary"? i was under the impression that miniguns were the majority of rotaries.
