my ethics teacher posed us a hypathetical question over what kind of car jesus would drive...
i didn't think this was really up to debate, the scripture says jesus rode a mule

I'm thinking that the gun doesn't like to be held up in a position like that. It's begging for someone put it in his nice&comfy holster.

That gun doesn't have a holster. It has a slowly spinning pedestal with crystal glass frame to gracefully hold it up.

It's a stamped 1911 prototype, to make it lighter and more reliable. The irony of it is, it turned out heavier and shittier.

Is that a dead duck frozen in the ice?
Is that a dead duck frozen in the ice?
No, its a rubber/plastic decoy; if you look at the full size picture, you can see the seam running down the top of the head to the end of the bill.
It's meant to deceive other ducks into trying to help out the stranded duck under the ice.
As heartless as this might sound, one thing that's always kind of interesting about uprisings and incursions is you get to see some pretty interesting weaponry being thrown around, apparently in Ukraine a Russian soldier was spotted with an AR type DMR (and what looks like Magpul magazine plates on his mag)

And VICE saw this guy at the Ukrainian presidential palace with what looks like an old StG-44 (remind anyone else of when the crates of them were dug up in Syria?)

I really love the StG-44, such a historical concept in terms of weaponry, and a pretty good design of its own right. Also the bulges on the sides of the receiver just look so beautifully retrofuturistic.
Not to mention the Russians were also using GM-94 launchers

With EOTech sights of all things.

Russian SF has massive boner for Magpul gear and EOTechs. It's impossible to find pictures of them with AK74Ms kitted out with Kobras or PKa sights, 'cause they all slap ACOGs and EOTechs on them.

If it is then it's more tricked out than Spets AK-74s.
[editline]19th March 2014[/editline]
Also, people are now saying it wasn't a Russian soldier, but a local militiaman, packing a Ukrainian made AR-15 sporter.

They like Eotechs a lot, but you're making a massive generalization here, Russian optics are still fairly common, and PSO scopes are infinitely more common than ACOG's. Also, you don't see much Magpul at all, its mostly Zenit furniture and accessories.

This looks to be almost the same rifle, only without the suppressor.

This one as well looks quite similar, but without the bipod.
People are saying these are Ukrainian made Zbroyar Z15 rifles, so yeah, looks like it's a slightly geared up locally made AR-15.

Are you sure those are Russians? I didn't think the Russians needed to be plainclothes anymore. They could be rebels
Are you sure those are Russians? I didn't think the Russians needed to be plainclothes anymore. They could be rebels
Yeah, almost certainly Russian FSB, the armbands and GM-94 are pretty much a dead giveaway.

Among regular units, yeah; russian stuff is more common. Among special forces, I can't remember seeing a picture more recent than 2006 where the stuff slapped on wasn't western.
This guy for example:

You must not be looking at all. Fresh out of Crimea:

The VAL and other 9x39mm guns are given a PSO like 70% of the time, and the only other equipment you regularly see on them are Zenit rails, foregrips, and lights. I mean yeah Eotechs do get put on everything, but in terms of other accessories Russian made stuff is far more common.

Note the Zenit rail mount and light as well as the Russian AK sling.

Those guys aren't Russians, though. Yeah, most of the unmarked soldiers are russians, but those guys there aren't Russian military. Pretty clear to see from their equipment compared to the actual totally-not-russians-guys guys running around there. Hell, one of them is holding a AKMS.

Actually some Russian special forces still do use the AKMS, and Ukraine doesn't use Digiflora, Defender-2's, Gorka's, or smersh. The guy on the left with the Russian optic is running a completely by the books FSB loadout, with the exception of the helmet which is still Russian.
[editline]19th March 2014[/editline]
Here's another example of a Russian optic being used when Russia took down that Greenpeace ship last year:

Pretty much every single soldier in all of these pictures that isn't clearly wearing Ukranian TTsKO is Russian. Ukrainians have never been issued digital flora nor that model of helmet.
