Functionality of a LMG but at about the weight of a Kar98 and I just really like the look of it. It's a shame it doesn't get as much attention as other firearms from that era, I'd love to have some kind of replica to use in the Star Wars costume I'm building, seeing as lots of blasters were based on WWII-era firearms.

A lot of stuff was more or less just "take an existing weapon and make it bullpup and / or give it a helical mag"
