kind of off topic, but I figure you guys would be able to chime in.
Friend of my father's is offering a Glock 17 Gen3, 2x 17 round magazines, 1x 33 round magazine, and 1x 50 round magazine for $700. Should we jump on this?
My father is looking into a decent pistol for concealed carry/plinking at the range. The above offer was sent to him by a friend of his. The pack also comes with a laser sight that looks like a Crimson Trace Defender (couldn't tell from the picture). Should I tell him to jump on it or negotiate the price down slightly? It appears that the pistol itself retails for around $500-550 new, the 17 round magazines for $30 new, the 33 rounder for $45 new, and the drum magazine for $60ish new.

did a bit more research, looks like the laser/light combo retails new for ~$280
Yes, thats a decent deal, I'd get it.
How many rounds through it though?

Not sure, he didn't say.
Not sure, he didn't say.
Being used would really only devalue it $50-100 at most, unless its had thousands of rounds through it.
Considering the extras, thats a good deal, get it.

Interesting to see a magazine disconnect in a handgun, and dat grip safety.

Magazine disconnects are the worst. Absolute worst.
Magazine disconnects are the worst. Absolute worst.
Well yeah, yeah they are, still interesting to see attempts at implementing them.
Playing Wargame: Red Dergon beta reminded me how cool some non-Russia east-bloc vehicles were. Mainly Polish and Czechoslovakian ones...

What's up with that assault rifle mounted near the muzzle?

Actually...

I have no god damn clue. Didn't notice it when I picked the picture, that there is a crop from the fullsize one. It's not just strapped or slung to it, it's bolted on to a steel frame with what appears to be a rod around the trigger.

My best guess would be some sorta laser-tag-simulation-jury-rig to make the gun function for direct fire in MILES system training exercises, though it lacks the big box by the muzzle that usually comes with such a system.
its either a really shitty sighting machine gun or used for training purposes

Those things are delightfully sci-fi looking.
They look like they weigh a ton, though, does anyone know how much? I also don't see the point of this or any advantages over the normal Saiga.

What you have never seen that before?
We have a guy that sits up there with a pair of binoculars so he can see clearer where the round is landing and if he gets shot at he has that gun.
In fact glorious leader king jong un does this from time to time to observe how accurate his men are firing. Here is a picture as proof. Totally not badly photo shopped.

looks like an AK though with a scope

Looks like some form of AK-74

Judging by the gas block and muzzle break. I think the local designation for that is Type-88.

From what I've heard (Very little), Nork AK's are the worst. Granted, the hear-say I heard was from an Iraqi battlefield-pickup, but even then, the build quality and steel and wood was terrible and rattly and barely holding together. Might be wear, might be poor built, might be both.

not liking the butt stock on this one..
[editline]24th March 2014[/editline]
it would totally look like some space marine bolter without the stock.
Thread needs more kawaii moe stuff.

Doesn't look like it could stop high caliber rifle rounds though.

I wouldn't be surprised, given NK's resources that furniture is probably made more out of ground up bloodstained laborer's bones than wood.

Yeah, the AR stock kinda breaks up the aesthetic, but like any AR stock adapter it's good if you like AR stocks. Personally though I think it looks like a two-tone version of the Saiga from Firefly

Origin-12: 9Lb 12oz. VEPR-12: 8.5-9.25lbs depending on furniture.
The advantage is that the gas system isn't a finicky bitch; S-12s have a puck in the gas system that causes issues, VEPR-12s don't have that issue. This has an adjustable gas system and the the whole front end is quick changeable with no need to change the gas system from short to long barrels; it is also a multi-caliber receiver.
They've also done a few things to keep the recoil down, mainly the mass of the bolt carrier.
Doesn't have a flimsy railed topcover that causes jams if you put the optic over the ejection port like a VEPR-12.
Kind of late pre-order, $2,600. Thats a lot considering a standard VEPR-12 goes for $900-1K.

I'm not sure why it has to have such weird colors and shit? But I liek.. for whatever it's worth.
[editline]24th March 2014[/editline]
I mean.. just look at it. But cool in it's own "bolter" way.
