Y'know... Transports-made-gunships are pretty rad.

Saying 'lol' is so much more useful than rating funny, yes.

Light recon made gunship is nice too.
Friend of mine found an old rifle. He asked me to identify it but I have no clue.
Anyone else have a guess what it could be?

Air rifle. The rotaty-thing by the action is the magazine, the tube under the barrel is the air pressure tank thingamaboob.
Ka-50's are nice.
Ka-50-2:

I love the cockpit on the Ka-50.
Ka-52:

Single sexiest gunship in the world.
The only thing that gets close IMO is the RNLAF AH-64D Apache:

This Apache's part of a military stunt team though, but it's a fully operational Apache ready for warfare.

Also, I love this. What's better than a M2 50 cal? A M2 that has a fucking high rate of fire.

Pfff, posting the Ka-50-2 and not posting it's origin story. What are you doing?
kinda interesting that the beneficial characteristics such as removing the rear and vulnerable tail rotor and use of smart automation didn't rub off on western helicopter design.

Alright here I go.
It's a modern Ka-52 made by Kamov and IAI. It was made for a Turkey design competition, although it lost. It features a glass cockpit (Not referring to the actual glass, but rather to the displays), a folding turret, targeting systems and pretty swell avionics.

When I look at an Apache head on, I see "Oh hey there's a gunship"
When I look at a Hind head on, I see "The glory of the motherland is here...for me"

Good job. Now show a picture of the silly, ugly turret, too.

It's not all that silly compared to the rest of the Ka-50-2.

It swings down several feet under the fuselage. How can you be posting about the Ka-50-2 (An awful name, in leauge with Beretta 90-two and Xbox One in things that are confusing to say) without pointing out the silliest, awesomest thing about it? "Hey we couldn't find a spot for the turret, do we just make it a front-facing semi-flex like the 50?" "Ech, nah, put it on an arm and swing it under the belly mid-flight."
Seriously, missing this part is about as bad as posting the G36 and not making an ice-cream joke.

And then the Russians cloned it

With good reason. It might be a wee bit underpowered and crude for the modern battlefield, but you're not gonna get a smaller, lighter package capable of taking out a light armored vehicle.

I thought I posted that first picture, but turns out I didn't and still had an old link copied.
It's an awesome way of mounting a turret though.
Here are some interesting pictures I've seen and wanted to share.

2nd pic for scale
M115A2 artillery simulator. A huge firecracker that simulates "projectile ground burst". Apparently the m-80 firecracker was also used in this role but the M115 is way bigger so I guess they wanted more boom. You pull the white cap off the cardboard tube and throw it.
"US Army gun crew preparing to fire a 37mm sub-caliber mounted on a 75mm field howitzer during range practice, Sanskeid Range, Iceland, 20 Jun 1943; note M8 carriage." So basically a WW1 37mm gun mounted on a WW2 howitzer to train.

Lastly a GTR-18 "Smokey Sam", which is a light paper/foam rocket that simulates launch of a surface to air missle.

I found this, and the SAM simulator is pretty cool.
