Our (155k98) does this too, just uses a tiny cartridge roughly the size of a 7.62x54r as the primer, and that's also the only thing that ejects from the gun when it fires.

Another rare gun, the Gabbet-Fairfax Mars pistol, developed in 1901. Only roughly 80 of these were ever made, apparently because the guy who made it couldnt be assed to get them proofed for commercial sale at the time. (Not to mention it failing french military trials.) It was still quite neat for its time though, it was an automatic pistol that was rediculously powerful for its time. (And complex).
It also has a neat design IMO. Dunno what that ring beneath the barrel and above the trigger is for though.

Backpack feed [I]seems[/I] wise, until you realize that it means you can't set your gun down without unloading it first, and that you can't go prone with it, really, and that the rounds are super likely to snag on literally everything. The PK's mirror-feed solves the prone issue and some of the snagging, but still.

Thank you! I kept trying to tell my friend who I was trying to show this picture to to look up an "M3, or was it an MG3 or maybe an M6 or MP6" I literally could not remember M60.
