Wasn't as much a matter of practicality as it was a fashion choice, since it goes amazingly with the MP5 with the same mount. I was wondering if anyone who has feels the stock is flimsy or maybe a bit springy considering it's made from somewhat narrow metal strips
No it doesn't feel flimsy but its not the most comfortable thing; at least its not like shooting a G3 with one or underfolder AK, those suck.
I got to fondle an empty mp5 when I was a cadet - and they don't feel flimsy. The one I held had a slight amount of side to side play but that was about it. No chin or cheekweld of course, but solid.
I know it's just a game, but you'd think an inter-dimensional empire would be smart enough to produce a sniper rifle that doesn't let the enemy know where you're aiming. Maybe they could've thought that they wouldn't have resistance - Agh, I don't know... I'm over-thinking things.
No, it's a very good point. It wasn't called the Seven Hour War for nothing. Not having laser pointers on their snipers would have tipped the scales of battle even more. So it didn't exactly matter. You can find plenty of questionable and flawed design by Combine, but they're still simply too massive of a space empire for Earth to deal it.
Could be that the laser isn't visible spectrum and the reason the player can see it is because of HEV suit visor?
I don't think even the developers thought the sniper rifle this far. The HEV suit doesn't even have any visor as far as Gordon's appearance goes. Just his glasses. Then of course there is the Suit-Zoom (only in HL2 tho!), but no night/thermal vision whatsoever nor any apparent protective helmet, so that is you trying to squeeze sense out of what is senseless.

This is pretty neat, a fairly nifty system that dosn't appear to compromise on interchangability with standard parts for its modularity. I'd still prefer a weapon in a single calibre that was built from the ground up for that chambering. That and I don't like AR-15's <_< But jolly good show otherwise.

Or hell, to carry a 5.56 and a .300 blk, if you really need that 7.62x39 performance.

The wood stock is beautiful. Still debating on whether or not it goes with the rest of the gun but the wood itself is a gorgeous color

Or a 47 >_>

While we're on the topic of character designs, let's take a moment to appreciate Killzone's awesome helghast.
Helghast are the only good guys with cool intimidating uniforms, and for that, I love em
I thought they were the bad guys?
I thought they were the bad guys?
if you count the guys who generally and constantly get attacked and opressed and have planetary genocide commited upon them as bad guys, then sure
;44860364']if you count the guys who generally and constantly get attacked and opressed and have planetary genocide commited upon them as bad guys, then sure
Morality is subjective, yo.
;44860364']if you count the guys who generally and constantly get attacked and opressed and have planetary genocide commited upon them as bad guys, then sure
But the wear lots of black and gas masks and their eyes glow red and the game tells me to shoot them, clearly they're the bad guys
Morality is subjective, yo.
dude they got kicked off earth by the isa and then after they failed an invasion and paid the price the isa decides to invade them, bombard their cities, and then just kill the entire fucking planet, nevermind the isa forces that were still there [editline]o[/editline]
Oh i know, that was more of an addition/agreement to your post. Morality is subjective, what you view as evil may not be to everybody else and just because you're the protagonist, doesn't mean you're the good guy.
oh i see also the helghast get the cooler guns

Killzone basically functions as a "don't judge a book by it's cover" type of deal The Helghast wear menacing uniforms, are clad in masks, and wear iconography and uniform colours similar to the Nazi Empire. They also have bitchin' English accents and are lead by a Hitler-style figure who talks of reaming the ISA on a daily basis. In other words, they look evil, and they sound evil, because British people are always villians. You also have to shoot them, and you only shoot bad guys, right? The ISA look like conventional soldiers, show their faces, and are basically AMERICA IN SPACE. They look like the good guys. On top of that, you play as them, so you have no reason to believe they aren't. Then when you actually get down and dirty with it, the ISA are genocidal cunts and the Helghast only want to ream the ISA so bad because of that. All of the visual and vocal iconography that paints the Helghast as evil and the ISA as good is turned on it's head. You are the bad guys. You are killing the good guys.

Coolest Killzone SMG. Sure, it's not from Killzone at all, but don't tell me the art design isn't Killzone as fuck.
don't smg foregrips like that have a danger of burning your hand with the muzzle flash or whatever?
