At first I looked at this thing and thought it fell straight outta the ugly tree but for some odd reason it's slowly growing on me
It suffers from a slightly fishy look but overall i quite like it.

Kinda reminds me of an AK5 if it were in 762x51, that or a FAL; this is also a short-stroke gas piston, not long stroke like an AK.
I know, I believe it's technically a modernized Type-81

Which as we've been over before is basically a cross of a Type-56-2 AK and a Type-56 SKS
But it still looks like it's imitating the AK-12. Although I will admit upon further examination the upper does look quite a bit like that of an AK5
And if it's a modernized Type-81 it's also technically an alternate version of the Type-03

I'll admit it's hard to look as good as a SCAR, but honestly I always thought the XCR was ugly. It also reminds me of this 80's battle rifle I saw on Forgotten Weapons

Alright I'll admit that stock does make it look a lot better.
The XCR really annoys me because its trying to be a modern update of the AR platform but they still haven't bothered to make it properly ambidextrous.
While I imagine its internals aren't as fancy as the XCR's, I think the SR-15 does a much better job overall:

You do realize that the XCR is basically an FNC with a FAL charging handle, AR-15 ergonomics and caliber swapping, right?
It was designed to be a "modern update" because like the SCAR and ACR, it was put forth for the Individual Carbine Competition.
