Something about Counter-Strike, Splinter Cell, and Resident Evil's 4 "Punisher" pistol made me fall in love with such a neat weapon. The 5-7. I wish I could afford one.

Wow that things got a really clever fire selector
FiveSeven
It looks pretty awesome and the 20rnd mag is nothing to laugh about. Ammo is too expensive though. But it's the closest thing to a real life .223 pistol that doesn't look like a pile of shit. More of a fan of larger calibers, such as 9mm and .45, they have more wounding potential than the 5.7x28 does.
Halo OP TF2 OP Realistic OP Not to say it can't be in a videogame, you'd just have to balance the videogame around it. I could imagine something of this sort being incredibly fun in a zombie shmup. MP games, pretty much out of question. You'd either have to nerf it so it's lame to use or have it decent but not fun to play against.
TF2's shotgun makes a good sidearm in my opinion, it is not too powerful to trump the actual primaries. but it is not too weak either to be useless peashooter. The thing is also pretty versatile considering it is given to 4 classes, 3 of which can put it to some good use in a lot of ways.

As is it's a decent secondary weapon for the classes that have it.
Wow that things got a really clever fire selector
Kinda neat...but what's with the full bakerlite shell around the receiver? I'm assuming there's some steel in there? As much as I love the look of bakrlite - it really dosn't look like it wears well as a an entire receiver. The fire selector is pretty damn neat though - even if the whole weapon just isn't to my tastes. Not sure if I shared this a while ago in this thread or not - but there's a neat video delving into the alluring Russian pulley gun: There's something I simply love about the 94's asymmetrical design. It's like a sleek, black, Russian dolphin. With a wonky flipper. That shoots bullets. Real fast.
bakerlite
If neat! were still here he'd have a shitfit. Also for future reference it's bakelite.

Have a delicious pic:

Muzzle velocity may be a bit on the lower side, but having an officer or a soldier able to constantly put out rifle rounds even without a rifle is pretty impressive.
Still better than a katana.
Oh jeez people still go on about this? Katana's were the best they could do with the shit steel, it's not comparable to Western swords at all due a completely different fighting culture(also honourubru). It's the same with shields and armour. Japanese soldiers barely ever used shields, they only did before real armour was introduced. Once actual armour was introduced, they only used stationary shields for their archers, but those eventually lost their purpose too, because of armour. Not because the archers were armoured, but because their opponents were. Japanese bows didn't have a strong pull, or whatever the technical term is, so it lost it's effectiveness against anyone with armour after 10 meters. Another great example of Japanese "shields" is their old armour: Those big ridiculous shoulderpieces? They're shields to defend against arrows and other missiles. I much prefer the look of this style of armour over the Western style, but that's because it just looks like it was made specifically for someone like a king. Back to actual weapons, not armour. Katana's weren't used for fighting wars. That's what Naginata's and Yari's are for. [editline]26th May 2014[/editline] Comparing a Katana to a Western sword is like comparing a hammer to your hand when cracking an egg. Technically they both work, one's just not as good, because it's not intended for such things.

Damn, that AD MA is probably my new favourite weapon. Glorious Socialist HK-53 [t]http://www.pulse-japan.jp/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/hk53_02.jpg[/t]
[editline]26th May 2014[/editline] Comparing a Katana to a Western sword is like comparing a hammer to your hand when cracking an egg. Technically they both work, one's just not as good, because it's not intended for such things.
I always got the impression that katana's weren't bad swords per say. They were servicable cutting things, that were mostly reserved for cutting either unarmed peasants - or in last ditch situations where you were suddenly attacked by assassins or ninja's or something. Then over the decades, the Japanese did what any relativey isolated society tends to, institutionalized the thing as a combination of status symbol, and spiritualistic icon of martial perfection - despite its relatively rudimentary construction, and limited utility - an attitude which has somehow pervaded to the present day. The way some people talk of Japanese swordsmanship, you'd think they'd grown up fearing the awesome power of bushi themselves. Then again, weapons of all shapes and sizes throughout history seem to have had a similar effect. In many ways Mr Kalashinakov's designs have dictated and in some ways, restricted eastern bloc arms designs for decades, and the armalites have done the same in the US. Look at how many new designs for even things like shotguns come out with m16 style pistol grips, trigger guards, and lower receivers - that are functionally unessacary, simply because it's what the American market is comfortable with. I guess what I'm saying is, as tools - tools that can mean the difference between life and death - weapons always seem to be firmly entrenched in idealism and romanticizing. Sometimes I have to remind myself that FAL's can't defeat DU plating, and stop a man at 1000m. That they're just peices of machinery that were designed and made by humans, and have inherent drawbacks and flaws. Even if they look gorgeous.
Oh jeez people still go on about this?
Not really. I just shit on the katana at any given opportunity. Running gag; much like melty G36s and broken jaws from L85s.
The S-18/1000 is pretty badass
That thing looks like it belongs in Fallout.

Quite a fan of that new civilian G36 variant (HK293/243)
and now imagine: a g36 bullpup with a katana bayonet
Have you by chance played Sleeping Dogs? No bayonets but by my understanding the assault rifle is supposed to be a bullpup G36.
[t]http://newbreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Sleeping-Dogs-SWAT-Assault-Rifle.jpg[/t] That doesn't look too bad.
[t]http://candrsenal.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Canadian-Trainer-Cooey-82-Trainer-tilt.jpg[/t] The "Cooey" 82 Training Rifle. Neat little .22lr thing.

Resist the recoil or get your arm cut.
