Coolest/Ugliest Weapons V5 - Bullpup AKs are the best
Looks like a beat-to-fuck Chinese Type 56, which was replaced as the service rifle by locally produced AKMs, so I suppose they use the 56 for training rather than throwing them away or mothballing them.
One of 'em is a legit AK47 with the milled receiver, angled stock, wood pistol grip and all. Pretty nice, if you were to clean it up and stuff.

Amazing, the wood actually looks like a really low quality .jpg

Well that explains the mish-mash of milled and stamped recievers. I thought they were all the same weapon. Point still stands, though, probably really banged up and not worth repairing for military purposes, so they just train with them. Considering the Viet Cong and PAVN probably used literally anything that went bang and quite a bit that didn't, they likely had a few old 47s in their inventory after '75. Or, quite possibly, they got early production Chinese AKs. I seem to recall hearing that for a little while before the Sino-Soviet split the PRC straight up produced licensed AK-47 clones, and then when Mao and Stalin didn't want to be BFFs any more they developed the tech on their own and that became the 56.

It looks like two different rifles, and both of them have hooded sights so I'd imagine they're probably mashed up rifles with a combination of parts on them
The quad Vickers is also pretty neat looking

Because it was originally marketed as a semi auto pistol but criminals and gangs often converted it to full auto

This would be a lot harder if you couldn't clearly see the stand the guns are mounted on.
wow didn't see that
What makes a training-AK different from a regular AK? Is it non-firing? .22?
Actually in my country there are two kinds of training - 'hard' and 'soft'
These AKs in the pictures are for 'soft' training, with which no magazine nor ammo is provided since these training sessions happen near areas with civilian residences. The aim is to improve trainees' familiarity with the rifle through field-stripping and practice taking aim at various stances. Also the handguard, pistol grip and stock of these AKs are painted green to signify that the rifles are for this kind of training.
I did field-stripping on some of them and I think that they would certainly go bang if they had ammo (just not sure which kind of bang though). Still, many of them are really beaten up with some having really loose parts.
"Hard" training AKs are practically old AKs still in service and we fire live ammo with them.

Your guess might be right, I tried to handle all of them and some of them are incredibly front-heavy while others have noticeably lighter handguard. This was experienced on both milled and stamped variants.
I also saw one with the Logo of Viet Nam's Ministry of Defese on the stock but I forgot whether the receiver were stamped or milled. Will take more pictures when I resume practice.

I bet there are a few people who have clapped in front of these and blown eardrums.
So today I got to see a Circuit Judge in person. I was tempted to buy it, but the all black was really not that appealing and I don't love the weird stock this one's got (I much prefer the open topped thumb area stocks). Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind one in .410.
They also had a 'sporter' nagant with polymer and whatnot and I cried a bit it was so terrible and awful and ugly.

A lot lighter and smaller than I expected, but maybe that's because it was a .22 model. Decently comfortable, too.
I have a great love and respect for the MP5 after I got a chance to fire one (the only automatic weapon I've fired so I might have some bias there).
I've had a few chances to hang out with FBI SWAT on the firing range thanks to a family member being in the Bureau and it's always so badass to see these dudes geared out and pulling sniper rifles out of the trunks of their cars.

Here's me from 2010 with the mp5:

and then a year previous in 2009 I got to be "arrested" during a fake traffic stop:

and then got to shoot:

and all this to say, I loved firing the mp5 full auto, I never expected it to be so powerful from how weak they're classed in video games.
would love to own one someday

9mm is no joke. A 9mm bullet hose like the MP-5 will really ruin your day. Video games have to make 9mm weak because in reality, everyone would just die after being shot a few times by anything and that's no fun. A 9mm will kill you just as dead as anything else. Maybe they don't have the penetrative power of other rounds, but anyone standing in the way of a 9mm burst isn't going to tell you it hurt less than a 5.56 burst. They probably won't be able to tell you anything.

totally jelly you got to play with the SWAT team though, that sounds hella fun
Swedish M39/b 9mm is no joke.

This one's my favorite. It looks like weaponry from some 1930's sci-fi film where music is our only weapon against the aliens.

It doesn't even have to be 9mm really.

Thanks for taking the time to apply the full power of your critical thinking skills to this post.
Thanks for taking the time to apply the full power of your critical thinking skills to this post.
What an American thing to say. Really.
Also you have to take his post in context to urbanmonkey's as well, where the full potential of critical thinking was definitely applied in concluding that even the 9mm can and will kill you, which he was commenting on with that "newsflash" post. "No fucking Shit" would have also been a fitting response.
But you are right we're sorry, we're just gonna let you Americans specify and articulate different caliber dimensions in comparison to others in peace, to generally sound really cool and tactical and American, over something as simple/stupid as "Hey! Did'cha guys know that them small sub-machine guns can kill peoples too?" Well, damn!

I don't think it's fair to bring nationalism to the table, nobody's gonna be able to find a weapon uglier than that
