The concept of a spotting rifle for rocket launchers/recoilless launchers is so you can help aim your shot without wasting rockets that you can't carry many of.
Also spotting rifles are matched to the rocket so that the path of both is the same,
iirc the american SMAW's spotting rifle is something like
" Each round consists of a special 9mm tracer bullet, crimped into a 7.62x51mm NATO casing with a .22 Hornet blank cartridge for propellant."

its not practical because you could
carry 1 extra 20round mag of tracer or
waste your underbarrel rail
add 0.95 lb to your gun
carry say 4x 5rnd .22 tracer (or a longer mag that would restrict your ability to lay down)
and the .22's bullet wouldnt even fly similarly to the main gun, unless you wanted to mount a underbarrel 22 to a 22[/QUOTE]
Carry one extra mag and be forced to switch to that mag if you want tracers, or use the underbarrel tracer dispenser. Seems pretty practical.

Sounds cool but the rockets lack the stopping power to kill someone.
Well, only up close. They took some time to get up to speed so at close range they were ineffective at best, and they were also pretty inaccurate since the rockets required far more precise manufacturing than we were capable of at the time it was built (I'd love to see a modern reproduction of Gyrojet rockets, it would work much better).

i wonder with the darpa-guided bullet and modern chemistry, could we see a resurgence of the rocket gun, i mean if the bullet weren't restricted to the velocity imparted to it by the gun, it could punch through like specific parts of vehicles
