I was wondering about trigger discipline, and is it seen accepted to rest your finger behind the trigger? In those guns where you can do that, of course..
Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
I know but usually when just holding the gun, people have their finger straight, resting on the side of the trigger, sorta, usually over or above the trigger guard. But then I've also seen people bend their finger behind the trigger, and rest it there which also seems like a secure way to hold the gun.. With a picture and some red arrows and circles I could clarify what I'm getting at..
Putting your finger behind the trigger is silly because it takes way less effort to hold the gun with your finger straight out and it's much quicker if you need to actually get to the trigger. Don't practice putting your finger behind the trigger, it's just silly.

It's still safer to keep your finger off the trigger entirely than even risking it a miniscule amount by putting your finger behind the trigger.
Time for some motherfuckin parade rifles.
U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Adm. One of those things is not like the other. I wonder if anyone's ever chrome-plated an M134 for parade purposes, though.
I'm either blind or dumb, but which country does the second pic represent?
I'm either blind or dumb, but which country does the second pic represent?
Looks like one of Her Majesty's Royal Navies. UK, Canada, Australia. Based on the rank insignia on the guy closest to the camera; it's most likely Canada. The flag is throwing me off though, as are the rifles.
Looks like a pointless design for a highway

On top of that they weren't carrying any rifle used by Canada, Australia or the UK.

Now I know. No need to be a dick about it. I really only know US Navy insignia, seeing as I grew up on USN bases here in the states. Also never paid attention to any Naval ranks other than the ones the USA uses, I just knew I'd seen that particular insignia on Royal Navy sailors before.
I wanna know what the hell rifle it is because something about it looks incredibly familiar and it's driving me nuts
On top of that they weren't carrying any rifle used by Canada, Australia or the UK.
Which is why they were throwing me off.
fyi a LOT of countries use insignia like that one for naval ranks
I noticed that when I was looking it up. Unfortunately, my google-fu was weak today. I did learn something new today; Colombian Navy uniforms looks damn good.
What rifles are they carrying anyway? The only bolt rifles I'm aware of the Colombian Navy ever owning are old Madsen M47s, but those don't appear to be it.
how is it not obvious? fn mausers
Dunno about anyone else but I'm not used to seeing Mausers of any kind with chromed metal and furniture that doesn't look 40+ years old, and never in that kind of wood

If I was, then I'm sorry.
So the IS-3... Kind of an ugly motherfucker, but it just recently beat out the Shermans and T-34's of the Yugoslav wars in longest 'service history' of an armoured vehicle, when separatists in Eastern Ukraine restored one from a military memorial and used it to attack a checkpoint.
Is there a source on that? I hope there's a video, or at least photos. Define 'attack', though? Did they use the coax/main gun, or did they just drive it towards the checkpoint to intimidate them? I'm expecting the latter as i bet the ammunition for the main gun is probably nigh impossible to come by these days, if it even still worked.

That's surprising, and kind of awesome. How well would an IS-3 stand up to modern anti-tank weaponry? ATGMs don't bounce off sloped armor, do they? And i have to wonder if it'd be worth it for them to remove the turret, dismount the original gun and ghetto-rig the gun from a more modern artillery peice or something in there instead. I doubt they'd have the gear or knowhow nessecary to take the turret off, but it's nice to think about.
That's surprising, and kind of awesome. How well would an IS-3 stand up to modern anti-tank weaponry? The modern artillery piece would be better off on it's own.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/vmNkn2I.jpg[/t] I don't really know why, but I absolutely love the way the T-34-85 looks

Or they have them in storage.
Waitaminute, if I'm thinking of the right rifle/bayonet combination, that bayonet is longer than the barrel.
I think it's a Model 1894 Karbin with a 17.5'' barrel [editline]26th July 2014[/editline] Don't know the length of the bayonet though
Here's a good bayonet. The M1917 bayonet. It could attach to the US M1917 Enfield .30 caliber rifle. You probably do know if you've seen any of my posts before. Yeah, it's the motherfucking Trench Gun.
