I'm calling for the acknowledgement that the Plasma pistol, cowboy repeater, and lever-action rifle are possibly the best weapons to start out with during the early levels of New Vegas. The lever-action especially, it just hits so hard and is pretty accurate. The cowboy repeater is even more accurate.

Your hard-on for realism invalidates your opinion on weapons in a video game that's meant to have a retro 50s sci-fi aesthetic to it. Again, it's a [i]video game[/i], it's not going to be as accurate to reality as, say, a milsim.
On the topic of ugly guns, I think the sturdy caravan shotgun is pretty ugly

My guess would be they had to give it a pistol grip to fit with the animations for pistols because the animators were too lazy to make a new animation for the weapon.

This makes sense, considering it's a game directed by the same guy who said making spears/polearms for Skyrim would be too difficult. Not long after, a modder made polearms available in Skyrim and they were accompanied by some pretty good animations as well.
But the animations for the caravan shotgun already exists.
The sawed-off existed before the Caravan shotgun.

It pretty much is. The branding on the textures indicates it was a border checkpoint guard's carbine issued to American forces in occupied Canada.
Aiming it was a bit of a pain though, the rear aperture was missing and the gas block was so crooked that you used the front sight ears as the front post.

Can someone please explain why are AK fire selectors made in a safe-auto-semi configuration? Wouldn't a soldier under stress end up pushing the lever down too much and getting a single round instead of automatic fire?
Kinda the point, it's so people don't just jam it down and run through all their ammo at once in a fire fight.

ye thats from an estonian website, its a polish version of the pps with a wooden stock
it looks pretty nice but unfortunately is too heavy and lacks the usefulness of the folding stock

What are firearms laws like in Estonia anyway? I don't think I've ever heard about them, or now that I think about it much of anything about Estonia.
Also, did some looking on that "Little Tom" pistol, apparently it was designed so that you could eject empty magazines out the top while loading a fresh one in the bottom. Not sure if that'd go much faster than normal reloads on a modern pistol, but considering it uses an old style heel release it probably was a bit faster/easier.

you have to be 18 to get a firearms licence which means just completing a course in safety and filling out some form
you can legally have pretty much any gun you want, but if you join the national militia (which is pretty popular) thing you are allowed to own your personal fully automatic rifles and shit
you can also order them through the militia afaik
