Ehh, I like the original MPX-K a lot more:
Pretty much the only difference is the handguard. I also can't seem to find a single image of an MPX with handguards in the style that Sitkero posted.
Pretty much the only difference is the handguard. I also can't seem to find a single image of an MPX with handguards in the style that Sitkero posted.
There's also the stock, fire selector, flashhider, upper receiver, sling attachment points, magazine, and magazine release. Minimal differences on most of those, but they definitely add up.

But I don't see what's different about the magazine release, and to a lesser degree the magazines since they've been that dark colored pretty much since we first saw something other than Sig's first image set of the MPX series.

Certainly not much of a difference and easy to miss. Also, those original magazines appear to possibly be transparent judging by the area around the baseplate, which certainly seems like a good idea that helps me like the prototype gun more than the production model. That said, so long as they pass up on the hideous keymod rail the production versions still looks pretty great and is one of the only sigs that I think actually looks good.
A product of Australian participation in the conflict in Viet Namwas the field modification of L1A1 and L2A1 rifles by the Australian Special Air Service Regiment SASR for better handling. Nicknamed "The Bitch". These rifles were field modified, often from heavy barrelled L2A1 automatic rifles, with their barrels chopped off immediately in front of the gas block, and often with the L2A1 bipods removed and a XM148 40 mm grenade launcher mounted below the barrel. The XM148 40 mm grenade launchers were obtained from U.S. forces. For the L1A1, the lack of fully-automatic fire resulted in the unofficial conversion of the L1A1 to full-auto capability by simple filing of the selector, or by inserting a 'foreign body' to block the sear. They would typically be equipped with 30-round magazines, either the straight version specifically made for the L2A1, or the slightly curved on used on the L4 Bren conversion. (As this mag was designed to feed downwards it often had an extra spring inserted to help feed upwards properly). The barrels were chopped to make handling in the bush easier, and to increase the sound and flash signature when the weapon was fired. When a contact was initiated, the typical SASR 5-man patrol would lay down massive amounts of fire, the sound and flash of the chopped barrels adding to the 'shock and awe' effect, disorienting the VC or NVA and giving them the impression that they were in contact with a much larger force. I'm sure I read somewhere that occassionaly the cone-shaped flash eliminator from an M3 'Gease Gun' was welded to the barrel, which made is sound like a .5 M2 when it was fired
The PDW really looks a lot like their concept for a SCAR alternative Actual looks at it starts around 2:30. I like their use of what appears to be an AR-15 compatible stock tube.
