An M134 weighs 85 pounds, compared to the 25 of a MG-42 or MG3. That extra 60 pounds is going absorb a metric fuckload of the recoil, he's also got it strapped to him and has it on a low RPM setting. And like I said before, I'm not saying the M134 is a practical infantry weapon, I'm just saying recoil isn't really one of the issues ontop the massive pile of it's issues.
I get what you're saying, I know you know the gun isn't practical realistically. But for recoil, the thing is, no matter how heavy the weapon, the force has to go somewhere. Having a heavy gun will reduce the slap of recoil, but it still has the same overall 'push'. 265 Newtons on the lowest RPM setting is a lot of force (in fact, the actual recoil is higher since some kinetic energy is imparted to the air and moving parts in the weapon as well as the bullet, so probably ~300N felt recoil), and no matter how heavy the gun is it's still a lot of force. Just for fun: if a 175lb man on rollerskates carrying an 85lb minigun fired it, on the lowest RPM, for just two seconds, he would find himself moving backwards at 11mph from recoil alone. It has enough recoil to be used as a propulsion system. Crank it up to 5,000RPM and fire for a few seconds and you'll be earning speeding tickets. For FPSRussia to be firing it without bracing himself at all seems to indicate that he's almost certainly just firing blanks for effect.
but since it's got less impulse so it's more of a slow push than a kick? I imagine that would be a bit easier to control and also it's on a pretty big base thing. maybe it's bolted on there
but since it's got less impulse so it's more of a slow push than a kick? I imagine that would be a bit easier to control and also it's on a pretty big base thing
Correct on all counts, but I meant when he's just carrying it and it's not mounted. It shouldn't visibly kick but it's still a heck of a push and if he were firing live rounds without bracing he'd knocked flat on his back in short order.

can we just invent powered armor already so you can mount eight miniguns and full auto rocket launchers and a fuckhuge ammo/battery pack on an exosuit or something
That thing looks baller as fuck.
Bayonets make everything look better. I think muskets look badass for this reason.
Are there any miniguns ever made? Literally like a minigun made for some soldier to equip in battle. [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] But never probably used or anything.
This doesn't really count, but special forces sometimes do cool shit like this:
ones I posted are YP-80's :v: I once ate lunch under a B-25 before it took off. I had the chance to ride in it too, but the pilot wanted 125$ per person to take a short flight in it.
T-33s were developed from the P-80 and sometimes are even called the P-80C It was a long time ago since that job and I had thought it was a p-80 but wikipedia says its a t-33 on display at that airport. M-16 with bayonet will always be cool because that plastic soldier guy with the gun above his head [t]http://www.quarterbore.com/images/ars_w_m9s.jpg[/t]
I cannot into M16/AR15s I just don't like the look of them anymore.
Bayonets can be big.
Mosin Nagant's bayonet is so big that you could stab an enemy across a river from the safety of your foxhole Then you have the M44 with a flip-out bayonet
I love the Mosin-Nagant. It's such a purdy and good rifle. Hell, bolt action of choice.

I swear that thing could double as a javelin
I swear that thing could double as a javelin
I'm sure in some battles on the eastern front it has.

What WoT has taught me is that the French love big tanks. Big lightly armored terrible tanks
Big lightly armored terrible tanks
The Germans took a few as toys and retro-fitted them. Served the Germans nicely as a few spare tanks. [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] Namely this one in particular. [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Hotchkiss-H-39-latrun-2.jpg[/t]
time for my obligatory Lee Enfield post. Bonus De Lisle Carbine because they're very closely related.
FN TPS, or Tactical Police Shotgun. I just like the way this looks, tactical but not overdone Mossberg 500 Bullpup, I really love the look of this, has a strong oldschool futuristic feel to me.
forward pump grips feel sooo bad and look terrible. TPS is kinda cool though.
