Quite the strange principle for a gun to work on, the Pak 41, along with a few other German guns and British modifications, had a smaller bore at the muzzle than at the breech. It would then be loaded with shells that have a very hard core, but soft outer shell, that when shot through the barrel, get squeezed tightly together. This gives an increase in velocity and density, meaning better ballistics and armour penetration. Also seen, as mentioned, on British guns, in the form of the even stranger Littlejohn adapter. Squeezing 40mm 2-pounder guns down into 30mm, increasing muzzle velocity from 792 m/s to 1,143 m/s. Best of all, unlike it's German counterpart, it's screw-on, so you can totally still fire 40mm HE shells whenever you want! God damn, brits, you fuckers are smart when you're not busy inventing steam powered AA guns or glass WP mortar shells.

Interesting idea, but those seem like a kaboom waiting to happen.
Interesting idea, but those seem like a kaboom waiting to happen.
Widely fielded and pretty effective, so I'd assume not. Germans had four AT guns based on it, Brits had the Littlejohn, Americans tried out a variation of the Littlejohn for 37mm but it didn't work, the muzzle attachment got shot off, no guns exploding.
I really dig the rifle this character is holding. It's by this artist.
Here's a interesting German AT gun, the 8 cm Panzerabwehrwerfer(PAW) 600. It used shaped charge ammunition that was based on the 8cm mortar shells to simplify manufacture and reduce cost. The PAW 600 was also smoothbore and had the penetration of 140mm armor, witch was comparable to the PAK 40's PzGr40 rounds while being lighter and cheaper to build. Only 260 PAW 600 were completed by the end of war and never saw combat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8_cm_PAW_600

I don't think it's that weird an idea, there's certainly precedent for it.
Not sure if anyone has seen this thing-ma-jig yet [t]http://truthaboutguns-zippykid.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/P1020765-900x600.jpg[/t][t]http://truthaboutguns-zippykid.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/P1020772-900x600.jpg[/t]
I always thought of a Nazi "Last-Ditch" anti-tank platform basically being a Panzer II, but it's top modified to mount 5 to 8 Panzerfaust rocket launchers. Basically, the "AT-Tank" would scoot up to Russian armour, bark off the rockets and run away, hopefully stunning them for a short period of time. Maybe punch a hole here and there, or bust a track. It'd be more of a 'suppression' weapon....for tanks.
Guess who's back with some future stuff. I checked out Destiny's designs and I gotta say I was a bit disappointed. Lots of bullpups and boring samey rifles. Here are few I liked a bit: [t]http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130329074527/destinypedia/images/3/3d/Pocket_infinity.jpg[/t][t]http://cdn.gamerfuzion.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Arcus_Regime.png[/t] I had to go to my boy, Aaron Beck, to find something better. The army decided not to go with the Ontos, seeing as it had a fair few problems, but the Marines were taking anything they could get for anti-tank at the time, and so the Ontos was adopted in small numbers. When they discovered that the PAVN didn't both fielding tanks very often, some bright spark realised 106mm of pain multiplied by six equalled a hell of a lot of dead commies. The vehicles were rather popular for their mobility, light weight and terrifying effectiveness as a terror weapon. Often it was reported that PAVN or Viet Cong infantry would abandon positions at the mere sight of an Ontos or a round from the spotting rifles used to sight the weapons in. By 1969 the vehicles were either decommisioned or given to light infantry units who used them for spare parts or as static fortifications. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontos
I fucking love the Aug HBAR. I don't know why, I'm not even really a gun sort of person.
That is an AUG A2 with a bipod, just incase you were curious. Edit: If you are wondering why I explained what it was called, it's because before he didn't know what it was.

It looks like it'd be right at home in Quake or something.
It kinda looks like the drunken lovechild of Fallout's 10mm and the Auto-9
It's beautiful and I wouldn't mind it blowing up in my hand.
Honestly, the whole Impro Gun Blog is pretty awesome. Really gives a bit of insight into how designs progress from neighborhood to neighborhood or region to region. Not to mention just how well-thought out some of the weapon designs are.
