I've met a friend who I haven't seen in a couple of months and he got one of these, thought it was pretty cool and worth sharing here

Good idea but not incredibly practical if it's going to be in your wallet, you're better off with a regular knife or CC'ing

I've heard stories about enemy soldiers that would duck under the tank as it drove over them safely only to see and hear these fucking chains coming like a meat grinder from hell.

I doubt that actually happened, when those things were in use they were in front of the tanks and they'd be shut off (independent of the tank itself) when not.
Although I suppose with some unfortunate choice of cover one might accidentally get in front of them as they advanced.

I dunno, it seems practical to me. Barely takes any space.

I think the intention of that knife is to be used as a tool rather than a weapon.

i bet when they were deploying them the ramped up firepower probably supprised some german tank crews, after all until then they didn't have to worry about being taken out by one sherman attacking as long as they kept their front armor facing towards it

the sherman will probably always be remembered in the west anyways as a liberator though
Fun fact: Firefly crews would paint the ends of the barrels to make it look more like a regular Sherman instead of a tank-killer.
[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/Sherman_Firefly_9-08-2008_15-05-43.JPG[/t]
Firefly with her barrel painted as such. Other Shermans would sometimes weld hollow tubing to their barrels to make them look like Fireflies to further add to the confusion.
Also, Oddball's Sherman is best Sherman.

you'd kill your hand trying to hold that shit
That looks like something a 5 year old would draw when he pictures a gun.

I wonder how many parts are still original.. I know the KT has the original engine atleast, not sure on the Panther.

It killed my hand just looking at it.
Yea the Sherman isn't as shitty as people seem to think it is. The most famous bad thing about it (the ammo being set on fire) was fixed in early 1944 and the most common variants (the M4s, M4A1s, M4A2s, M4A4s, etc) were pretty much on par with the Panzer IV, the most common German tank. Not to mention the M1 76mm and QF 17 Pounder variants.

Why is it that on most of the restored planes you see, the guns have been removed?

I have to wonder if anyone has ever bought a flyable vintage plane and put actual full-auto machine guns in it then used it to shoot stuff.

Well they're removed for obvious legal reasons, but why they're not replaced by mockups, replicas or deactivated ones, I do not know.

The later 109's were covered in gross bumps all over the place, no thanks.
I much prefer the super long looks of the Ta-152:
