Thats a pretty accurate sim though, since 109's were notoriously hard to land in.

Still a cool plane. I love the square canopy/the general block-y look of the 109s...

..but not as much as the curves on the Hurricane.

They looked weird to me at first, like your forwards field of view would be shit; until I realized that the middle two tubes are parallel to each other despite being separate devices. They also just look damn great, like the 2010's equivalent of the 1980's SAS gas mask.

I wish I could find a picture of the ones we got issued.

They're just a monocular that goes over one eye, barely works and has a tendency to shut off if you bump 'em. No depth perception, and focusing it is a bitch. I ended up busting mine off of my rhino mount when I was doing room clearing training.
