I'm a little confused about how that would really be practical honestly.

Old USMC rule set said you had to keep all parts of your rifle on you at all times. That guy prolly just finds that way easier than wasting a pouch or pocket on it.

On the topic of ugly weapons, I'd like to point in the direction of GTA V:

I'm not sure what the hell happened between Max Payne 3 and GTA V, but the quality of the weapons really fucking degraded. These are just a few examples by the way, almost all guns look weird as shit.

The first one is supposed to be a variant of the Desert Eagle and the second one is a mechanically-fucked shotgun that seems to resemble a UTS 15 mixed with something else.

eh, most of 'em only look weird cause they're sort of composites of several real world weapons

Like, I know that it won't be going guns blazing for all the .7 of a minute it'll fight, but that feels like a poor design for something in the thick of it.
But it has 500 grenades for some reason.

yeah i can only agree. guns in GTA V were god awful looking, it's like they had to make concessions and create some kind of hybrid looking guns to bypass legal issues or some shit.
that being said it's not the end of the world since gun models is one of the easiest thing to mod in GTA.
can't wait for the PC version.

That isn't furniture per se, it's a complete upper (ARAK-21) with a monolithic rail, also heavy as hell and a long stroke piston upper.
It does look quite nice however.
