There's just something about light tanks and armoured cars that's really cool. Especially ones with cannon on them. My favourite's probably the Daimler Armoured Car

Why do I like this so much.
Oh man if we're going on about tanks that aren't tanks, but still tanks

I fucking LOVE the AMX-10 RC. Something about it is just incredibly awesome.
and then there's the stryker mgs, which everyone knows about

Add a carry handle and you've got the super shotgun from Quake 2.
So when do we get a sawn-off version of this.

it looks like it would do a flip if you fired that gun.

I'm sorry, I couldn't hear that name right due to the sound of my Sieben Komma funf Panzerabwehrkanone vierzig geteilt durch drei auf Panzerkampfwagen acht und dreizig tschechisch Ausführung H, Sonderkraftfahrzeug ein hundert acht und dreizig blasting another T-34 apart!
I need a Kettenkrad in my life.

Imagine doing some grocery shopping in this..
Not really a weapon.. but "SCHNELL SCHNELL WIR BRAUCHEN WURST UND BIER"
Kettenkrads are nice but I'd love to have one of these to drive around in, but I guess that maintenance and fuel mileage are going to be a bitch.

Are halftracks still useful or have better off-road tires just made them completely redundant?
Are halftracks still useful or have better off-road tires just made them completely redundant?
The design purpose of half-tracks is to act as (lightly armored) off-road capable transport vehicles for carrying troops en mass in a manner similar to that of trucks. With the introduction of more effective tracked or wheeled APCs and IFVs the use of half-tracks began to get less feasible.
Also, another difference between a half-track and an APC is that an APC is meant to offer much high protection to the troops being transported directly to the battlefield.
I think they just got phased out in favor of fully tracked systems as the technology improved and made it more viable

It's kind of a shame 'cause they did some really interesting stuff with them
I'd like a schwimmwagen for the express purpose of being able to drive my car into a lake and relax.
Y'all are cheating when you just type out the numbers. You can make anything sound long that way.
How many times have you seen someone type out five point five six millimeter M two hundred and forty nine.

When the NFA stops being the NFA.

My grandpa has a Luger stamped 1940 something with all matching serials besides the mag, I'll try to get a pic next time I head over to his house.
Do it.
I love how this thread constantly shifts between firearms and tanks/other big war vehicles.

I aint thumbing it because that would be an injustice to this giant Sandcrawler abomination thing. It's called a Frot-Laffly and exactly one was made. To make more than one would be letting an Irish alcoholic give birth a second time
Even that sand crawler monstrosity is better than than the Saint-Chamonde

Whoops
WW1 tanks simply looks so silly and stupid.
Its like METAL BAWXES
Well since Trunk Monkay is currently serving another ban, I can semi-safely say this now:

I prefer the Sig 556 to the rest of the 550 series, not only is the build quality better than the 551a1, but the AR mags are a nice upgrade, easier to use for someone used to an AR-15 (or just about the same as an FNC), Stanags are easier to find than Sigs, and AK style magazine catches are just a cheap way to hide the fact that your child laborers can't build proper magazine wells, unfitting on a finely crafted Swiss rifle.

Is there an abbreviation for all of that? I cannot possibly think of any scenario where time is precious and saying all of that could do any good.

Marder III or Panzerjäger 38t, it's just a PzKpfw 38t chassis with a anti-tank gun on it really.

I want to see a Sig 556 classic with an M16A2 stock on it. I'm a sucker for modern weapons with solid stocks, and the Sig is my favourite AK variant.

Not even posting the best picture.

Though honestly, it's hard to criticize them too much, since they were the first people to get it right.

And the FT-17 is kinda fuckin' cool as shit.
Hey, given that it was made in 1948, it's still a pretty good laser-guided missile-launcher.

Oh yeah, the Carl Gustav together with the M72 LAW also provides one of recent history's greatest "Man fuck you" moments, when a bunch of Royal Marines decided to take on a god damn Corvette, as in, the ship-class, with shoulder-fired AT weapons. And won.
reminds me of the part in the a-team remake where bj blazkowicz blows up a container ship with a smaw

so much for the grand scheme, Smith!

The french make some pretty cool weapons and machinery.

Because sometimes, you just need an LMG the size of an MP5.
Perhaps my favourite shooting stick in terms of appearance:
