Guns differ from neighborhood to neighborhood. It's nothing short of artistic expression and interest in the technical know-how these underground gunsmiths go through to make them and the ammo for them has always been a past time interest. The Turks are replacing their G3s with that, not the Greeks. The rifle in your picture kind of looks like the stock and lower reciever are all one solid peice. I know it'd be less useful as a fixed stock, but if you stretched the sliding stock to full length, fixed it in place, and fused it with the lower, I think that would look cool as fuck.
