What's the point of competetive shooting if your gun is held perfectly in place on target all the time.
That's like having a "draw a straight line contest" and people are allowed to use rulers.
They sort of state, its a sport for people who want to shoot but don't have the hand stability and have tons of patience,
Also its about consistency with uncontrollable variables, like adjusting loading or milimeter adjustments to the gun stand to account for wind and other stuff
Went to visit my HEMA teacher, who is also a hunter that has been to Africa a couple of times.
We started talking about guns and he handed me some .577 Nitro cartridges.
Holy shit.

Not only is it fucking huge. It's also heavy as shit.
yeah homemade guns are pretty interesting, but dammit Joe you seem a wee bit obsessed

It's his secret dream to get all of /k/ together and start a tactical 4chan-governed fort in Detroit, free of the evil Obongo's dictatorship.

an error of margin of 3-4mm in a sport like that is what sets the difference between a winner and a loser -- it's like missing the mark entirely in regular hand-held shooting. it's still a competition, and as the narrator said, people who are still gun enthusiasts but can no longer properly compete use these as different ways to do so.
there's something for everyone!
And for the follow-up to today's episode of "Shit the PLA uses for some reason", we have their standard issue SAW, the Type 95(or 97 for the NATO flavor) light machine gun.

Yeah. I know.
For some reason I see a fairly retard praying mantis when I look at it. Then again, any American attempt at a bullpup rifl-

Way to go cherrypicking the oldest and worst examples instead of looking at anything more recent.

And I know it's generally hated because of how huge and shit it was, but I still love the OICW.

How much does that thing even weight
Fully loaded, it aparrently weighs about 8.2kg. So it's kind of heavy.
I'd really rather carry it's features in different weapons than 1 huge blob

That one you posted is and does, but you're gonna have to go to Canada to use one, Norinco isn't on the best terms with our import laws down here.

For comparison, the XM25:

weighs ~6 kg and holds four shots of 25mm. A SCAR-L (if we're going with the whole futuristic loadout thing) weighs 3.3 kg. That's only one kg more in the grand scheme of things, and way more bulky since you have to actually carry two weapons, but I bet using a 3 kg weapon is a lot more convenient than an 8 kg one - and you'd only have to whip out the grenade launcher for, well, launching grenades
IIRC the OICW programme's goal was a 5 kg weapon that had a multishot 'nade launcher, which would've actually made sense.
This has been your armchair weapon specialist opinion for the evening
Personally, for the T97, I'd be more interested in the aftermarket flat top version though:

Takes away a good bit of the derp factor but leaves you with a sweet little semi space gun.
Also the rail is nice since the irons are pretty bad and the normal mount is proprietary.

Yeah I know, I pulled it off some blog when I was googling about it, but man, SVTs and ugly probably-poorly-made spaceguns
I wish I was a Canadian

Don't forget the MDR which is probably the most promising new bullpup design
[t]http://www.guns.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/desert-tech-mdr1.jpg[/t]
How do bullpups feel like when shooting from prone position, I can imagine it being kinda awkward
Not American but I don't care it's cool as fuck
I quite like the mdr-c

looks like it could be the new go to gun for sci fi movies imo.
Good lord, have you seen Mockingjay Part 1? Full of FS2000s P90s, and Tavors painted white.
I'm almost surprised they didn't buy a crapload of SKS bullpup kits for their evil Apple Empire stormtroopers.

They weren't anywhere near as prominent in Mocking Jay Pt.1, but they also used Vektor CP1s in a similar getup during Catching Fire:

Actually a pretty good choice, very spacey design, but at the same time none too common a sight.
guys, you're talking about probably one of the worst written, most shoe-horned books in recent history, i doubt the people that go see those movies care about the guns
That pistol has been used in a number of futuristic Sci Fi films

District 9 has my favorite white painted bullpups. Tacticooled Vektor CR-21s
