i usually don't get bothered by people getting the clip vs magazine thing wrong, but you'd kinda expect a diagram to at least get that one right...
Ya I know, people are always confusing clips with the bunkers where large amounts of charges for artillery are stored, seems like a no brainer

I wish HVAP rounds for real small arms existed.
I also wish more animated movies like this GITS one existed, ones are arent stylistically like most anime, where people have no noses and have random hair colors for no reason, or where their eyes are huge.
GITS has some pretty cool weapons.
The Russians actually designed (and use) a round that's very much like the HVAP round for 9x19mm. They put a half-weight steel cored projectile in it and load it with fast burning powder. It has a max pressure of 41000psi which is about 120% the max rated spec pressure.

Also I just love the goofiness.

GITS is pretty great 'cause it's pretty much just a cyberpunk Michael Mann movie (gunsperg, long talks about morality and all) just animated. I'm not a big anime fan at all and I really liked it

also Matebas
I don't understand matebas. Like, from a mechanical standpoint, sure, and from a olympic-class stand-still-and-hold-it-in-one-hand .22 sort of standpoint, maybe, but why on the unica?
I'm rewatching a documentary called Bloody Foreigners, which is about the 303rd R.A.F. Fighter squadron.
Therefore, I shall post pics of the most awesome british plane ever built.

Well, you're not supposed to be shooting dudes with them, that's both illegal and excessively expensive.

I actually had a lovely discussion with the maker of the weapon in that video. Turns out the guy does this as a hobby, and he's also invested some time into building is own DIY lathe, CNC, and a few other constructs which allow him to manufacture quality homebuillds. Gotta love it when people take pride in their hobbies! ^^

Thunderbolt best bolt. That thing was almost as indestructable as the P-40.
It's also pretty much just an engine with some wings and bombs strapped to it.
There was an incident with a allready badly beaten retreating thunderbolt that got chased by a FW-190 (guy flying the 190 were one of Germanys best pilots at the time) who unloaded almost everything he had into the rear of said thunderbolt.
The thunderbolt was still flying.
The german pilot pulled up next to the badly damaged thunderbolt to look at the damage. He shrugged, pulled back behind the thunderbolt and unloaded every last shell he had.
The thunderbolt was still flying.
Giving up, the german pilot once again pulled up next to the thunderbolt, shooked his head, saluted the other pilot and returned to the airfield.
The Thunderbolt managed to land and the dude flying it didn't even have a scratch. :v:

Can't mention that beauty of a plane without posting a picture of it.
P-40, only second to the Hurricane on the list of my favourite planes.

I had full confidence in my ability to destroy the Grumman and decided to finish off the enemy fighter with only my 7.7 mm machine guns. I turned the 20 mm cannon switch to the "off" position, and closed in. For some strange reason, even after I had poured about five or six hundred rounds of ammunition directly into the Grumman, the airplane did not fall, but kept on flying. I thought this very odd—it had never happened before—and closed the distance between the two airplanes until I could almost reach out and touch the Grumman. To my surprise, the Grumman's rudder and tail were torn to shreds, looking like an old torn piece of rag. With his plane in such condition, no wonder the pilot was unable to continue fighting! A Zero which had taken that many bullets would have been a ball of fire by now.

also it had a big fucking gun in the front of it, russians loved the big fucking gun
They loved the big gun so fucking much, that every Russian plane onwards was required to have big gun. I mean seriously, the P-39 is to thank for every bit of the Russian Air Force doctrine.
I can't like it. I love the tricycle gear, I love the big gun, I like the fuselage shape... But that hairdryer behind the cockpit just ruins it. The hairdryer goes under the propeller as a big smiley face, not behind the cockpit!

American's didn't like the P-39 and P-63 because the engine was in the back and if the 37mm ran out of ammo it usually got into a flatspin because there were too much weight in the back.
The brits replaced the 37mm with a 20mm hispano

It also had a very mediocre perfomance at high altitude, where most of the fighting took place in the pacific.
That, and being hard to control/prone to flatspin, meant that pilots actually loathed the plane. Rumour has it that some pilots crashlanded their P-39/P-63 on purpose just to get a chance of not ending up in either of those again.
At low altitude it faired much better, which is why the russian pilots liked it. Since much of their fighting took place at low altitude. Plus the 37mm was useful in a ground attack role.

Odd to see him carry it like that, almost all operating operational operators operating the M82 usually seem to break it down and pull the barrel and bolt way back into the receiver for carrying.
