What is up with that first one and why does it look like someone stuck a lampshade on the barrel?
Presumably, it's a port firing weapon of some description and the 'lampshade' is a mock-up of the port it's supposed to be used with. That's the only thing i can think of.
I thought that's the NV scope? Always see it Arma 2
I thought that's the NV scope? Always see it Arma 2
no the one in the top photo in the top left, with the foregrip. The one on the bottom is an ancient NV scope.
I thought that's the NV scope? Always see it Arma 2
Above that
I get the feeling it's a riot control launcher. Tear gas, smoke nades and the like. I remember hearing some of the older Warsaw Pact AKs were capable of firing rifle grenades and such.
Anyone, Seen revolver machine guns on early jets? I had a few images a while back but i cannot find the damn things anymore.
Anyone, Seen revolver machine guns on early jets? I had a few images a while back but i cannot find the damn things anymore.
They were actually (supposed to be) on German prop-fighters before they were on American jets. The MG-213 was one of the first, if not the first, of it's type The US then adapted it's M39 20mm cannon of it's design and mounted them to F-86 Sabres, because they though 6 12.7mm's on a modern jet was a great idea at the time. Oh, Man. The Wealth of Images you've just given me is amazing my memory can only hold so much information.
Have M1919: [t]http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/machine/mg59/m1917a1_1.jpg[/t] [t]http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/machine/mg59/m1917a1_2.jpg[/t] [t]http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/machine/mg59/m1917-ksp36.jpg[/t] [t]http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/machine/mg59/m1919a4_1.jpg[/t] [t]http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/machine/mg59/m1919-fn30.jpg[/t] Beautiful isn't it?
20mm ShVAK revolver cannon
ShVAK sounds like the sound this thing'd make. Like, you press the trigger, it goes *SHVAK* and whatever you were aiming at now has a 20mm hole through it Also, I started watching Miami Vice and I've got three things to say about it: - PASTEL COLORED SUIT WITH MUSCLE SHIRT WHAT ARE YOU DOING CROCKETT - it's awesome and stylish as fuck - finally, something actually relevant to the thread: The Bren Ten looks boss as hell. (yeah, I know it had major reliability problems, but it's still cool. Just look at it! Hm, wonder if it works better with .40 S&W? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can fire .40 out of 10mm chambered guns?) Look at Sonny Crockett rockin' this thing. "Maybe you won't even twitch."
ShVAK sounds like the sound this thing'd make. Like, you press the trigger, it goes *SHVAK* and whatever you were aiming at now has a 20mm hole through it
A lot of Russian guns have cool sounding names, DShK, 12.7x108mm heavy machine gun, Soviet equivalent to the American M2 Browning, the Russians called it Dushka, or sweetie. Recently the Syrians repurposed one as a sniper rifle: PPSh-41, 7.62x25mm sub-gun, simple, durable, reliable, low recoil, and had a magazine capacity in excess of 70 rounds, this thing had it all, it was even popular with the German army after it was discovered to be fully compatible with the 7.63mm Mauser cartridge, and easily rechambered in 9mm Luger. The Germans called it the MP-41 and MP-717, but the Russians called it Papasha, meaning papa, daddy, etc. In fact, variants of the PPSh design would remain in service in Soviet countries throughout the Cold War, China cloned it, Vietnam developed a local variation called the K-50M, and North Korea actually still issues the later PPS-43 derivation. [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/Kim_Shin-jo_PPS-43%2C_TT_pistol_and_hand_grenade.jpg[/t] Actual North-Korean issue PPS-43, captured after a failed attempt to assassinate the president of South Korea. Also a Tokarev pistol, I love that name to, it sounds cool no matter how you pronounce it. German 9mm conversion Vietnamese clone of the Chinese clone. [editline]4th June 2013[/editline] And before anyone else says it: yes there was an American marine who converted his M2 Browning to a sniper in a similar fashion as that Dushka: His name was Carlos Hathcock, and from 1967 to 2002 he and his Browning held the record for the longest confirmed sniper kill: 2,286 meters.
At the time it was actually a good idea. Late-war German aircraft had difficulty dogfighting because the low muzzle velocities and rate of fire on autocannons made hitting fighter aircraft difficult, and ammunition limits compromised their longevity in a dogfight. With the speeds of post-war craft the designers of the F-86 correctly realized that in a high-speed dogfight, being able to hit the target at all was a major concern. A .50 might not do much damage to a plane, but being able to fire somewhere around 60 rounds per second gave it a much higher hit probability than the MiG-15 with its 33rps and lower muzzle velocities. Also note that the MiG had only six seconds' worth of ammunition, while the Sabre had around 25 seconds of ammunition. Having much larger rounds doesn't help if the pilot runs out of ammunition before he can score a hit.
Yes you could, but the gun would suffer serious bore erosion if done repeatedly; might get a bullet lodged in the barrel because of all the blow-by from the round not fully seating in the chamber. It'd be like shooting .380 in a 9x18 chambered gun. If you're gonna 10mm, go G20.
ShVAK sounds like the sound this thing'd make. I can see why they would want to use a smaller and faster caliber but it really didn't work well, thus the complete conversion to auto cannons and the US air fleet using the M61 Vulcan on most aircraft. The MiG 15 also had a 37mm auto cannon [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/42/Chinese_NL-37_Cannon.jpg[/t] Which carried around 40 rounds, which was more than enough to put a hurting on a Sabre.

[sub]plus my weak arms probably couldn't handle the recoil[/sub] And yeah, if I was buying a pistol for self defense, a Glock would be my first choice. Though I'd probably just go with a G17 or a G19.
Are there any videos for the Rex revolver? I tried searching but I can't wade through all that fucking BF3 bullshit.
Have a SCAR 17 Bullpup This one is of a different production than the one above.
Are there any videos for the Rex revolver? The pistol was meant for export to Civilians, but their biggest buyer, the US, has big issues with importing foreign firearms and Russian guns in general. It couldn't meet the importation standards and nobody else wanted the pistol so the project failed. Considering the pistol wasn't even marketed to any militaries anywhere, why it's in military video games is beyond me.
Seems like it would be VERY rear heavy though.
The receiver is aluminium, so it wouldn't add to much weight to the front. If it's a problem though you can always add so weight to the barrel (Bull barrel anyone)
Considering the pistol wasn't even marketed to any militaries anywhere, why it's in military video games is beyond me.
Probably 'cause it looks awesome.

Video games always like including cool looking weapons, and Russian stuff, revolvers generally fit the bill for the former, and break action Russian made ones are even better. [editline]5th June 2013[/editline] And unfortunately no one ever wants to do something like a Nagant 1895 or an Ots-38. [sp]Yes I know the Nagant was technically Belgian-designed, but it was made for the Russian army and was issued by them for almost 60 years[/sp]
