Damn thing weighs 6kgs though. Combine that with the rifle you'd also have to carry and that's a lot of weight. I image they could cut down on the weight with a carbon fibre magazine and a barrel like that on the latest Carl Gustaf 84mm (I.e. a very thin metal barrel with carbon fibre wrapped around it)

This trope applies to a massive enemy force in pretty much any form of media/entertainment. I think the creator wants them to be intimidating, but they just end up looking awesome. E.g.: the Helghast, Storm Troopers, The Combine, the Daedra, and so on.
