for one thing there is shit smeared all over its arse
It's a cow, what did they expect?
That cow was probably burgers in the '70s
Can someone tell me what they think Comfortably Numb is about? I always thought it was a guy talking to their friend who was depressed and OD'd on something in an effort to kill them self. That's why he's asking "is there anybody in there?" as if he found him lying on the ground or something. And the "pain" that he says isn't there is the depression. But my friends disagree, they say it's about someone who is extremely sick?? That doesn't make sense to me.
Do you know the story of the whole album? Because what you just said doesn't fit in at all

The Wall is about how Roger Waters ate a brick, then shat many bricks subsequently. Great album. :smug:
I never listened to it all in order. What is the story? [editline]9th March 2011[/editline] Ok ninjad
The Wall is about how Roger Waters ate a brick, then shat many bricks subsequently. Great album. :smug:
on Roger's imdb page, it says "Also known as: Pink Floyd" which proves my theory that roger thought that "WITHOUT ME THERE IS NO PINK FLOYD"
It's about the story's main character, Pink, becoming pretty much completely disconnected from the world and his manager and such find him, and give him drugs to "keep him going through the show"
I never listened to it all in order.
do
Holy shit, so many posts in the time I took typing that [editline]9th March 2011[/editline] Oh god automerge broken again
Pink Floyd is the only band in existence that I love every piece of their music. For some reason their music just speaks to me in a different way compared to all other music, like I can literally imagine my life having their music as the sound track to it.
on Roger's imdb page, it says "Also known as: Pink Floyd" which proves my theory that roger thought that "WITHOUT ME THERE IS NO PINK FLOYD"
Pink Floyd definitely wasn't the same after he left.
I've listened to all the floyd on records and CDs in my house Going to have to DL the rest
I must say that the guitar work Gilmour did on Animals is the best he's done. It's quite different that what he usually does, but it executed so well and is so good.
According to LastFM, my most played band is Pink Floyd with 800 plays.
The most played song on my phone is apparently "Echoes". (565 times)
The most played song on my phone is apparently "Echoes".
Pink Floyd definitely wasn't the same after he left.
He got a bit too controlling though. It wasn't the same but it still had some goooooood music. I don't care what anyone says, I love the Division Bell. High Hopes was the best goodbye song a band has ever had. Waters was a total asshole though. He shunted Gilmour a lot, like in the Final Cut but Gilmour was like half the band. The later stuff post-Waters has a lot of what I think The Wall and Final Cut were missing, but none of Waters lyrical ability. Really they were at their best when they cooperated. Also by the time I listened to the final cut I was kinda sick of hearing Waters shit on about the war. Wish you were here, Meddle, Animals, Dark Side of the Moon - all of them had a LOT more emotional quality.
I've recently taken an interest in The Final Cut, probably my favorite album from them so far.

Waters pretty much admits he was a jerk, but he also makes the point that he was the only one willing to contribute. Gilmour, Wright, and Mason really didn't contribute that much after Dark Side of the Moon. They of course helped make the music and had a lot of influence to how it sounded, but without Waters, they likely wouldn't have had a direction. In case you aren't aware, Gilmour has no ability to write lyrics. He admits it himself. He is very good at making music, but he is very lyrically challenged. Currently, his wife writes most of the lyrics to his songs. I'm not saying that Waters didn't get all egotistical, but I am saying that he was the only one who was willing to write music at the time, and this likely lead to his inflated ego and the two albums that are essentially all about himself. The biggest disappointment for me was all the effects they put on Wright's voice on The Division Bell. It ruins that song in my opinion. As far as emotion goes, The Wall and The Final Cut have a ton of emotion in them. I don't really know how you could argue against that. [editline]10th March 2011[/editline]
I've recently taken an interest in The Final Cut, probably my favorite album from them so far.
The Final Cut is a lot different, but it is really good. I consider it to be more a work from Roger Waters, but that doesn't imply that it is bad.
I watched The Wall on DVD again yesterday but with my girlfriend this time. She took it like my mom did when she first watched it; got really depressed about the whole thing. I don't see why personally, seeing as it's an amazing movie. Sure there's a lot of emotion and depression in it, but it all begins to be resolved at the end. Especially when you actually listen to the album. God that's such a good album
A recent live show of The Wall is coming to blue ray, which I think is pretty sweet. I haven't heard anything of Gilmour playing yet, but I don't know. I'd hope they'd film the one time where he plays with them.

I think one of the things that angers me was that Waters fired Wright and then re-hired him as a session keyboardist (or so I'm told), which is just dumb as all hell. but if the other members weren't really contributing then that's understandable - though I was told Gilmour did write songs for the final cut, but they weren't accepted. As for the wall and the final cut, I think that The Wall and the Final Cut did have a lot of emotion but for me they lacked a lot of the soul that was in albums like Wish You Were Here. If I were to compare the Wall and Wish You Were Here I would say Wish You Were Here had a lot more emotional quality to it because of that. But that's just my opinion really - I've never liked the Wall as much as the albums before it.

Anyone figured the Publius Enigma yet?
