I wasn't going to bed tonight anyway
No one responded to me when I brought up Publius Enigma...:saddowns:
Division Bell Tour pictures I think.
Yeah, it happened on the division bell tour.
One of the problems with the Publius Enigma is that a lot of the people who have said shit about it haven't said anything that could be considered validated. The concensus is that the creators abandoned it.
Also it was a record company ploy, not the band's idea.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publius_Enigma#Solution_controversy
Still unresolved though.
EDIT: Just found this really cool thing about the division bell as an album on facebook, it was a guys theory on the true concept of the album. The band members said it was a concept album about communication but I found this really cool:
that being said, i think the solution to it is far simpler than most made it out to be. The Division Bell is rung when parliament ends its session. The Division Bell rang for Pink Floyd at a time when talks were under way (my interpretation) with gilmours camp, waters, and also including talks with Syd Barret at the time (92-94) to unite a new and stronger floyd than had ever been seen (High Hopes and Keep Talking). But due to bad blood, the negotiations were stalled (Marooned) because the parties involved could not find a common ground to work from (Poles Apart) and Gilmour couldnt understand quite what was being asked of him (what do you want from me) while he was heading for a meeting with the whole lot it seemed that the whole idea was pregnant with possibility (Coming Back To Life). He approached it with his heart on his sleeve (wearing the inside out) and was taken aback when he was told it would never again happen in anyway as it had (Lost For Words). I think the whole story of the possible reunion/union of a new form of Pink Floyd was given to us as the Publius Enigma pointed out that it was all right there in that album. The Division Bell is the story of a potential triumph of wills and hearts reduced to ashes and lost potential.

Anyone figured the Publius Enigma yet?
I'll get my copy of The Division Bell out ASAP.
So I found out my dad saw Pink Floyd live in 1980 during the Wall Tour in Los Angeles. I started getting into Pink Floyd about a year ago; I just listened to a few songs before that. Now they're the only band I listen to. But anyway he saw the fucking wall built in person while I've only been able to watch the Earl's Court performance on youtube. I cried when he told me this.
Now they're the only band I listen to.
why
why
if there was any band I was forced to choose to have as the only band I can listen to I would most definitely pick Floyd
You can't listen to just one band.
That's just... wrong.
I already find listening to only one genre boring, but just one band...
You can't listen to just one band.

I mean if I was forced.
Also its not wrong as such, depending on how you do it. I listen to one band obsessively over time but I'm always switching between bands and I like going back to bands I used to be obsessed with from time to time. About 3 months ago you wouldn't hear me shut up about porcupine tree. now its pink floyd. Before that it was shit like nightwish so yeah.
If I was forced to listen to one artist only I would pick David Bowie because of the wide range of styles he explored.
Fair enough. I recommend that you listen to different bands for the sheer fact that you may get tired of Pink Floyd and give up completely.
Good to have a mixture. Try King Crimson :3:
Frank Zappa because he released a rediculous amount of albums, so there's less chance of getting bored.

Bowie is amazing.
May be Neil Young or Miles Davis for me.

One of the lyrics had some anagram. Found it yet?

Wearing the inside out, but you can only notice it in the lyrics booklet

i'd take the Rolling Stones

Love King Crimson!

Dunno why I directed it to you :psyduck:
Anyway, Gilmour's debut album is great. Worth a try.
I already find listening to only one genre boring, but just one band...
Are you implying that Pink Floyd gets boring?
:colbert:
Are you implying that Pink Floyd gets boring?

It can't possibly get boring with the likes of Momentary Lapse of Reason. :smug:
But I dunno, The Final Cut seems less inspired.
When it comes to their entire discography, you will never get bored.
Are you implying that Pink Floyd gets boring?
:colbert:
I'm implying that although Floyd are a great band, they definitely don't have enough music for a lifetime.
Have you listened to all their albums?
I have :smug:
I still need to get through their live stuff, but I feel they're not worth listening to, to be honest. :saddowns:
Rather have a DVD of the show than a CD.
Have you listened to all their albums?
Except for The Final Cut, yes.
There's your problem, if you don't listen to all their albums in chronological order, your life will be spent in unsatisfiable bordem and emptiness until you die.

I agree with this
The only live album I really like is Metallica's S&M, most others just seem pointless

Also Dream Theater's Score.
