Waters sounded good? He must of made some big life decision. He really hasn't sounded good in recent years.
At one part of the concert they had a recording of The Wall Live from one of the concerts 30 years ago. They played that with Waters singing and playing along with it, sounded almost the same which astonished me.
Did they get someone half decent to replace Gilmour? Gilmour has a really amazing voice that is hard to replace without it just sounding wrong.

That's really impressive then.
That's really impressive then.
Yeah, the crew they assembled for the concert did a really great job. Oh yeah, one other thing I didn't like, they got a bunch of kids from Philadelphia to do Another Brick in the Wall and it sounded weird not having British accents there.
sometimes I think Echoes is the best song ever written, not the the best prog rock or rock song, but seriously one of the best songs ever written. I also think Meddle is way to under apreciated.
Loads of people buy DSotM shirts without actually knowing who Pink Floyd are. :smith: I have an Animals Tour shirt though, it's badass.
Yes that bugs me alot, when I wear the T-shirt, I have gotten the odd look as people would assume I don't know who Pink Floyd are.
Wish you were here is definitley my favourite album.

I went to go the the Wall live when they were here in Atlanta. Really cool and got to see it with my dad, that also saw all of the other concerts including Animals and Dark Side of the Moon (all except The Wall).

It creates genuine vivid atmosphere which makes it one of their most effective.
Most lyrics in Floyd songs aren't too great. I'd say Waters really stepped it up from Animals to The Final Cut. Wish You Were Here has some decent lyrics, most notably the title track. The best lyrics I'd say are from Animals and The Final Cut. DSOTM lyrically isn't very good, but a lot of the phrases strike a chord. I really like the lyrics in a lot of Floyd songs, but I can admit that from a technical standpoint that they aren't very good. Waters even admits to that with DSOTM.
Pff technicalities... Its about the effectiveness. Thats why Pink Floyd are so awesome. They disbanded this in Momentary Lapse but still!!

I put the music far above the lyrics. If a song has good lyrics, that's a bonus, but it really isn't any kind of factor in if I enjoy a song. Really bad lyrics can ruin a song of course, but the lyrics need to be real bad. Two songs where I feel the lyrics are really strong are: Nobody Home and The Gunner's Dream. Strong lyrics essentially are great poems.
Poetry is another ball part. Musical Composition is something far from it. Artistry on the other hand, brings them close to focus on expression. The lyrics on most of Animals and The Wall are great.
Well most lyrics are just poetry made to work with common meter, which a lot of poets use anyway. Lyric writing and poetry are connected pretty closely. I'm not making any kind of argument that composition isn't the biggest aspect in song writing, but I am saying that you can still evaluate lyrics on their own. I'll certainly agree that the lyrics on The Wall and Animals are pretty awesome. The lyrics on Dogs are pretty amazing. They really capture my interest. The music on that song is also so good. I feel like I could give so much praise to that album altogether.
I need to buy a big artwork of the Animals photograph.
That'd be pretty sweet. When I eventually get a house I think I'd paint my music room black and then paint the DSOTM cover on that wall, simply because it'd be the easiest to paint. Another side of the wall would just be vinyl album covers of my favorite albums covering the whole wall. I haven't planned out the other two walls yet. I just want a sick music room.
On the subject of lyrics, I really like Atom Heart Mother and The Wall. Usually I am really particular about lyrics but Pink Floyd is one of the only bands whose music is so conceptually powerful that they say much more than the lyrics. The lyrics just kind of fill in the gaps between the ideas in the music, not vice-versa.
