So talking about first Pink Floyd experiences (which I guess I'm a whole page late to), I remember first really listening to Pink Floyd at around 12 or 13. I had heard of them before, but I had never actually given their stuff a listen. So one of my homework assignments was to run on a treadmill for 30 minutes for whatever reason. I didn't own a portable CD player or even an early MP3 player, but my parents had this old boombox next to the treadmill. I decide to listen to whatever CD is on there, and it's Dark Side of the Moon. I listen to it, but damn I hated it. It just wasn't something a 12 year old kid really appreciates. The only song off the album I moderately enjoyed was Money, and that's really a testament as to how different Money is to the rest of the album. So, fast forward 2-3 years when I'm 15. It's literally the same setup. I had to do a gym running assignment. It's raining outside so I decide to run on the treadmill. Boombox is still there, and DSotM is still on there. I listen to it, remembering how much I didn't like it, and holy shit it's the best thing I've ever listened to up until that point. I absolutely loved it, that instead of running for 30 minutes like the assignment said, I ran until the album finished. Loved them ever since.
I started listening to them (and other prog rock) August last year. Heard Money and Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2 on radio a few times and heard Time on youtube. After a crapload of listens of Time, I decided to get the rest of the album. Fell in love the instant I listened to it. Oh hey only 5 posts left 'till I reach 8,000
Yeah looking back, I'm kind of ashamed as to how I stereotyped music. I recall how I would find enjoyment is hearing 3 or 4 seconds of a good tune and deciding the whole track was good. That was about 7 years ago though. :v: [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] In terms of Pink Floyd, Dark Side first, disappointed. Animals second, loved it. Every album listened, loved it. Now as a band, can't stand them. They're capable of making a lot more music than they have. :smugdog:
Listening to them now to stress down a bit.
The thing with Pink Floyd.. is that they really make your mood completely change. Just... how?
My first album was the Final Cut :v:

Still, I suppose quality over quantity. It's nice man. I never have an unhappy moment while listening to this. Just bliss.
My first album was the Final Cut :v:
Mine too v:v:v
Continuing my previous point on Animals being the most "band" prog effort. On Dark Side, I don't get the sense that Roger is a self-obsessed ass on that album... you can't be a great Floyd record without that. :smugdog:
I think my first Pink Floyd album was The Wall, now I barely listen to it. :saddowns:
Just testing out my new strings. I bought them online and they didn't cost much Money....
Someone mentioned the Immersion Box Set last page I think. Fucking that scarf is the sexiest thing I've ever seen. I want one so bad!

Gilmour is a great multi-instrumentalist. He re-recorded "Money" for A Collection of Great Dance Songs, playing all of the instruments except for the sax, which of course he now plays.
He played all instruments on The Narrow Way too.
Yeah, The Wall and Wish You Were Here were the albums that really spoke to me, which is why they are my favorite.
I wasn't moved by The Wall, but I thoroughly enjoy it and the concept.
First albums I heard entirely was DSOTM and Meddle, both on vinyl. :c00lbert:
:psyboom: Now that's just not fair.
I have all their stuff before The Final Cut on vinyl. Only ever heard Animals on vinyl though. Can't say if it was much better than the digital version I have, but the experience was amazing. Chilling at 4am with my Uncle and Dad relaxing to this stuff was a blast.
I compared vinyl to mp3 version of Animals on youtube. Go see.
:psyboom: Now that's just not fair.
I heard Disc 2 of The Wall on vinyl before them, but I didn't find Disc 1 until afterwards (it got misplaced), got to listen to it entirely once before it got a loop skip in One Of My Turns. :argh:

Are vinyls supposed to be better quality that CDs or something I would've thought it better to listen to music on a CD than a record, then again I don't really own any records
Are vinyls supposed to be better quality that CDs or something I would've thought it better to listen to music on a CD than a record, then again I don't really own any records
Modern Vinyls and vinyl players have leaped forward in quality by miles.
