I would like to thank this thread for getting me back into Pink Floyd again. I used to listen to them when I was much younger, but not very much. I've got every one of their albums now and listen to them almost non-stop now.
This has probably been discussed in great detail, but the Wall Live was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I just wish I could have seen Gilmour, too. :frown:
I listened to The Wall for the first time yesterday Wasn't really paying attention, was playing bad company at the time, but I'm gonna be going through all their stuff this week
What a disaster.
Went to see Roger Waters in Herning a couple of weeks ago. Truly mindblowing show. I can't help but being jealous at the ones who were lucky enough to be in O2 the 12. May, but I really shouldn't complain, Roger Waters' performance was fantastic!
What a disaster.
Not at all I always listen to music while doing something else
Not at all I always listen to music while doing something else
I do the same. But there are some pieces of music that need your full attention in order to be fully appreciated.
well hopefully I'll listen to animals or something on shrooms for the first time so that'll be cool
well hopefully I'll listen to animals or something on shrooms for the first time so that'll be cool
Lucky I had some of The Wall on yesterday while on E for the first time.. oh god was it beautiful. Connecting with music on it was one of the best experiences i've had in a long time.
I will re -listen to the wall on shrooms too I can't remember any of it
I will re -listen to the wall on shrooms too I can't remember any of it
And you won't be able to either if you listen again on shrooms

Introduced my cousin to DSOTM and earlier PF. He'd heard The Wall and liked it, so I showed him Speak To Me - Breathe, and then Careful With That Axe, Eugene. He liked both. Now he'll probably torrent everything
I've listened to Animals, The Wall, Dark Side of The Moon, and Wish You were Here (all great) dozens of times now, but I've never heard anything else by Pink Floyd. Are there any other albums worth listening to?
Saucerful of Secrets and (before AK posts this) Atom Heart Mother. [editline]27th June 2011[/editline] Also, Meddle, Division Bell, Obscured by Clouds, and... Fuck it, listen to all of them.
At the moment I am mostly listening to Meddle. Absolutely fantastic album (All of them are). But yeah, listen to all of them, if you have to start somewhere, go for Meddle.

I'm surprised they didn't make an album about a tree. Would've fitted in perfectly with their other objects.
And you won't be able to either if you listen again on shrooms
Who cares, it'll be awesome at the time PF is drug music
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason or as Iceman said, listen to them all.
It only goes up hill from there. Not that its bad...
Who cares, it'll be awesome at the time PF is drug music
How is it possible to disagree with this, they are a DRUG band This is a fact.
How is it possible to disagree with this, they are a DRUG band This is a fact.
Actually none of the band members took drugs regularly apart from Gilmour who had an addiction to cocaine in the late 1980's. So during their psychedelic era, they never actually took any drugs unless you count drinking and Roger Waters smoking as a drug. But they state pretty objectively that none of the music they wrote was ever influenced by drugs I mean apart from Syd Barret, but Gilmour and Waters have both vehemently denied ever taking drugs during their song writing and both say they never made a habit of it Get owned
received [editline]28th June 2011[/editline] this makes no difference on my decision. [editline]28th June 2011[/editline] y'all just jelly
How is it possible to disagree with this, they are a DRUG band This is a fact.
Wrong words. You should say "They are a good band to get high to". But if you truly were psychedelic, you'd be listening to a lot of psychedelic music other than Floyd. Care to name a few?
The Grateful Dead [editline]28th June 2011[/editline] Perhaps King Crimson Hendrix [editline]28th June 2011[/editline] Specifically Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band Jefferson Aeroplane
