A deaf man composed these. Can you, a hearing man, compose anything even close to this level?
As early as 1801, Beethoven wrote to friends describing his symptoms and the difficulties they caused in both professional and social settings (although it is likely some of his close friends were already aware of the problems). Beethoven, on the advice of his doctor, lived in the small Austrian town of Heiligenstadt, just outside Vienna, from April to October 1802 in an attempt to come to terms with his condition. There he wrote his Heiligenstadt Testament, a letter to his brothers which records his thoughts of suicide due to his growing deafness and records his resolution to continue living for and through his art. Over time, his hearing loss became profound: at the end of the premiere of his Ninth Symphony in 1824, he had to be turned around to see the tumultuous applause of the audience because he could hear neither it nor the orchestra. Beethoven's hearing loss did not prevent him from composing music, but it made playing at concerts—a lucrative source of income—increasingly difficult.
we're not arguing if i'm better than beethoven tho
svinnik's point was that beethoven wasnt handicapped musically by his lack of hearing
just clarifying
u sure he was deaf when he composed these lmao
He could feel the vibrations through the piano

thats wrong tho
its just easier to make music when u can HEAR
apparently these were the pieces composed after being deaf
the last five piano sonatas, including the famous Hammerklavier
the last five string quartets
The Ruins of Athens, overture and incidental music
The Diabelli Variations for piano
The Missa Solemnis
Symphony Nº 9
whys it important to u fam
without getting into the very personal details it's a song that kinda encapsulates a bit of a rough time in my life
a lot of the songs on yeezus do actually, which might be why i'm so attached to that album
but that song in particular is special, it's one of those songs that i can listen to, close my eyes, and kinda get lost in the past
there's certain parts that still give me chills listening to it right now
Ye Beethoven wrote a lot of shit while he was ~going~ deaf but not too much once he was totally deaf.
