If you cover the lower half of her face and just look at like the eyes and stuff above the nose, she has a vulnerable/calming expression, but conflicted with bloodshot eyes. If you cover her eyes and stuff though, her mouth shows interest but her jawline and cheek structure shows fear/pain. It's just like a weird mix of emotions, all culminated by the fact that she is all wet and naked. His other works in the series show people in a bathtub, so you are probably correct about the drowning part.
