No an OVA is anime made to be released on home media IE dvds and can be standalone or related to an aired show.
Think direct to DVD movies but with tv shows instead.
that's kinda what i meant by calling it a movie..

blue gender you need to watch till they get to the space station to decide if you like it or not.
i forget how many episodes that is.
the main reason why i liked it was how over the top fucked up it was. trying way to hard to be fucked up and gritty to the point where it's kafka comedy rather than tragedy. the main character can be a bitch but that goes away completely when somehow his chin triples in size overnight.
[sp]i can really only think of one person in the entire series that they meet who survives besides the two main characters. and the only reason we have to believe that he survived was that we never saw him die (the awol-er in the desert)[/sp]
oh, one more thing about blue gender, it's one of those shows where the final episodes are kinda shit, really the final episode is almost as bad as trigun's final episode which is basically a bunch of media from previous episodes and really the only new animation in the entire episode was the main character picking something up and walking through the desert carrying something instead of the final credits. i haven't seen NGE's ending so i wouldn't reference it but it's just as bad if not worse i hear and it also goes on for episodes, instead of being only one time afaik.

if you want a decent streaming site for anime that you pay for hulu plus is the way to go. their catalog is fucking huge. netflix only has a handful of good anime.

Why didn't you like the final set? Didn't like the animation or did you dislike the story as well? I thought it finished the series pretty well myself.
also regarding blue gender the series and character development just wasn't paced right for me.
it took to long for them to screw and just became some long drawn out tension where you didn't even know for sure if they screwed or not because plenty of scenes leave it ambiguous. also i thought the series should have just ended [sp]when they defeat the dude and the girl sleepers who crossed over to the blue[/sp]. but instead of neatly wrapping it up there they have to draw it out with 3 episodes of after politics and a final episode with a pretty gainax-y ending and no real point. in fact the final episodes sort of defeat the purpose of the events before it for me and in my mind they aren't canon.
[sp]so we've killed the bad sleepers, suppressed the good ones and the earth itself is returning to normal... BUT NO WAIT THERE'S ONE BUG OF BUGS THAT NEEDS TO BE BEATEN IN AN INSANELY OBSCURE AND FLASHY SEQUENCE AND FOR NO REASON EVERYONE IN THE SPACE STATION BLOWS THEMSELVES UP[/sp]
Also the series is incredibly derivative of neon genesis evangelion. to the point where some might call it an utter rip off in certain aspects. i suggest watching neon genesis instead, it's pretty much the same thing but way better.
I think Hentai Ouji has the best OP this season.
The song accompanied with the visuals was executed perfectly to set the mood of the show.
I'm gonna watch Fate/Zero (I've never watched any animes from the franchise before)
