I don't read many manga/anime these days but got linked to Attack on Titan due to it apparently getting Monster Hunter items.
Do manga start off completely terrible or is this series fucked? The pacing is so disjointed and awful it's completely throwing me for a loop and I can't believe they're making a anime out of it when nothing has happened in the comics.

I can take gloomy atmosphere's and it's why I was interested in it, but you gotta give the readers a reason to keep coming back instead of "Hey who can we introduce and kill off today?"
Also won't the anime hit filler arcs freakishly fast?
