I've already decided I wouldn't watch porn/masturbate for 6 months, so count me in! I'm only at 25 hours if anyone's wondering. I've gone weeks without before and noticed pretty huge changes, so hopefully this will help in the long run.
This has got to be literally the dumbest thing ever. Most of this stuff about porn rotting your brain is spread by the conservative christian crowd, seriously, go see how much real science [peer-reviewed shit] points to this conclusion. Like, seriously. More confidence and less anxiety? I'd argue that just the opposite is true. People who watch porn are way less sexually anxious since they KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING.
Stop fapping those wings.
I find myself not enjoying most of the porn anyways(shit just doesn't gets me as horny as it did a few years ago), so why not? Guess it can't hurt.
If you're still craving for beer for years after 'beating alcoholism', did you really fix anything?

- your liver - your life

If you're still craving for cake after not being a fatty, did you really fix anything?

- your diabetes - your appearance

If you're still craving for porn after not masturbating for a while, did you really fix anything?

- your sensitization - your mental health
You missed my point. I don't consider an addiction beaten if you still have cravings for whatever you were addicted to afterwards. That means you still have a dependency, you're just refusing yourself relief.

My uncle still craves chewing tobacco 8 years after he quit.

Dealing with some cravings is better than dealing with whatever the effects of giving into something negative does to you. It sounds like you are just out to argue no matter how incoherent you sound. :v: Edit: Also I'd like to think that if you keep refusing yourself whatever it is you want that is negative then you would lose the cravings entirely for most things. If you can't stop eating cake and you just stopped eating it I don't think you would have cravings for a very long amount of time.

Once you wire your brain to like something, it will crave it for the rest of your life. If you are a compulsive eater, you will always be a compulsive eater. Fighting the compulsions will just get easier over time. Likewise, most people who quit cigarettes end up starting up again within a month, even though their body has no physical dependency anymore. Once your brain is addicted, you will always have cravings.
I decided I was going to try to quit fapping. First thing I did when I came home from school today was fap :suicide:
Does it count if it's softcore porn..
I don't consider an addiction beaten if you still have cravings for whatever you were addicted to afterwards.
In context of what we're doing, does it really matter?
That means you still have a dependency, you're just refusing yourself relief.
Are you implying that anything that's 'relieving' is healthy/beneficial? [editline]17th April 2012[/editline]
Does it count if it's softcore porn..
Yeah, porn is porn - your subconscious brain doesn't care if there's a penis in the picture or not
I don't consider an addiction beaten if you still have cravings for whatever you were addicted to afterwards. That means you still have a dependency, you're just refusing yourself relief.
So what you're saying is in your perfect little world; beating an addiction requires you to lose all interest in what you mentally ingrained into your brain with years and years of constant practice and repetition? That is extremely unlikely to happen with anything your brain becomes addicted to. You can either face the facts that addictions are hard to break and you can never completely be rid of them or you can continue to sit in your room tugging on your dick. The choice is yours.

This is... Surprisingly hard, actually. I never realized how much I NEED to fap.
I'm doing this. Who knew that after only a day, I would snap on two of my friends, get into a religious rant with one of them (thus losing that friend ): ) and now i've got an incredible urge to fap. Well shit, guess I did have a problem!
I'm so bored and can't sleep...
I see a lot of naysayers here. I think the main thing with this is just discipline. When you can resist a temptation that is large and is deemed potentially draining, it creates some self-discipline which can lead to a larger drive to do things like achieving your own form of greatness or getting a girl. Not to mention when you have all that tension build up, you start to gain back your sensitivity to females, and your inflated standards reset. Not to mention porn is not exactly real, and the addiction is to porn can be detrimental to your sex life. I think that most men are definitely addicted to porn, they are just in denial, and the people who do not have the willpower to actually change their masturbation habits, come on here and say what works and what doesn't. tl;dr try it yourself before jumping to a conclusion.
Going to do this simply to discipline myself, if anything positive occurs then great, if not then at least I have control over myself. ive been doing this since I got a girlfriend about 5 months ago. shit works.
my balls ache. Can I fap in the shower?
This isn't as much about willpower, as much as it's about imagination. Because let's face it, without porn you'll be masturbating to a rather limited pool of uh... individuals.
my balls ache. Can I fap in the shower?
You can jack off wherever you want just no porn/models I guess
I did this once for about 2 months and had my first wet dream. I woke up feeling great, until I went to scratch my balls.
I wasn't planning on living forever anyway, I'm in. :v:
this whole your brain on porn thing seems like it was designed for a guy who actually has sex on a consistent basis
I feel more accomplished already than anybody who actually succeeds in this, I'm so proud.
Sign me up, I need to stop blowing loads. Two of the last three woman I've slept with ended up getting disappointed from my slimmy jimmy who just wouldn't wake up to smell the roses (pussy). Luckily determination and 45 minutes allowed me to please one, although the second lovely lady was more unfortunate and I had to resort to the power-fingering technique; using the frustration and anger created from your rubber ducky and using it to furiously please your woman using whatever else is available. [editline]18th April 2012[/editline] It sucks when all you have to show is a tiny weeny that has the potential for great and bigger things, but it was that one train who said "I can't do it". P.S. A friendly message to my dick: FUCK YOU.
This is the most eloquently written post on all of facepunch.
Is it because it's about my penis? [editline]18th April 2012[/editline] My broken penis, in correction.
