Or you could just limit yourself to once a week, and only look at soft stuff. The point is your brain is only going to get rewired if you are doing this shit every day. Moderation is more likely to succeed and you won't feel like shit. You're only every going to get these symptoms of desensitising if you display behaviour related to addicts, smokers don't lose nicotine rush if they only smoke 3 or 4 a day. Porn isn't the problem its excessive stimulation.
This thread is like a depressing car crash and everyone knows it's happening and is accepting it.
I'm insanely tempted to quit right now... advice?
Work out
Dawn of the third day. Yesterday was the toughest for me but things should be alright from here on out hopefully How's errybody else?
72 hours of nothing for junior
Thanks for the gifs. I guess. Still, even though it all seemed hot I held my ground and scrolled down to this box and I am typing this message right now about me not looking at quite attractive ladies from the internet pictures.
4th day today, was kind of tough, but instead went out in the sun (which is rare for this country) and did some press-ups. Feels good, mang.
Well, neither I nor my BF has lost. Yay :)
Fuck this shit, I think it's time my girlfriend and I have our first time. [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] nooo i can't do that
On Day 4. I feel loads more energetic and social that I already was
Hi Count me in [sp]Im tired of disappointing my GF[/sp]
challenge accepted. lets do this.
Just wanted to say: people who are doing this, keep it up (har-de-har). I stopped (mostly) about 3-4 months ago and I've never felt better since before I started. I was pretty miserable getting over the hump (har-de-har), but now it's great. I'm pretty social now, got a girlfriend who I like a lot, and have lots of fun. It's really easy to concentrate and I get a lot more done. The only difficulty I'm having is that my internet addiction has been worsening dramatically in the last month or so, but I'm trying to get over that too. So best of luck to people who are trying.
I don't see the benefit to this, I don't think I've ever seen an unbiased article on the subject and until I do it seems to be a harmless habit. I'm not in and I probably never will be.
After this story I think I'll try, but it's so difficult what are the best tips for avoiding it? also rip 6 gigs of my favourite porn :(
After this story I think I'll try, but it's so difficult what are the best tips for avoiding it? also rip 6 gigs of my favourite porn :(
Not too hard to avoid, just keep yourself busy doing other things. I play a lot of games, watch a lot of videos, or do school work. Like others have said as well, if you think about it, do some exercise instead.
I don't know how much of what's in the OP I believe but I definitely feel like I've been desensitized to sex so I'm gonna give this a go.
I've wanted to, but even for 2-3 days at a time I feel very distracted, perhaps with consistence I might succeed.
;35633644']Day two isn't the hardest, day three is when shit and jizz hit the fan.
This a thousand times. Day 3/4 (?), I'm starting to feel immense temptation. This is very very difficult, my mind is trying to convince me that this study has no meaning, and that I should relieve myself anyway, but I'm not giving in! :C It feels like fighting for something that you're against - if you catch ma meaning-
Count me in for consideration.
I do have early results, however, immensely increased energy, pushing out more reps than usual at the gym and feeling motivated about it. A quirky confidence in social interactions and even a different rhythm to a walking pace.
I caught myself walking to the grocery store today, all cocky and shit. Maybe it's working.
Before anyone calls out the placebo effect on any of these people just note that if they see improvements in their life and confidence there is absolutely no harm in doing this. Oh and day 3, pretty easy right now.
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade here but a lot of the stuff on the site is just pure bull without scientific backing. If you're feeling better about yourselves after trying this out then, great, keep it up! If it's working for you, awesome! But do realise it's essentially mental placebo. You're reading about all the apparent life improvements that are supposed to follow a stoppage and, bam, they happen. What I'm saying is that you've got the abilities to do all the awesome stuff already but you've never had a tool for unlocking it. Overcoming the urge to masturbate (which is mostly due to hormones, not porn addiction which this guy seem to imply everywhere) is difficult. When you succeed, you get a mental boost. Rinse and repeat. Remember that regular masturbation has a fuckton of benefits. Do it with moderation and you'll be fine. And again, if this works for you, by all means do it.
Lots of animals masturbate, which tells me there should be no issue with it in the first place. The only issues that arise are human-created. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_sexual_behaviour#Autoeroticism_or_masturbation Homosexuality in animals is the same, it's been observed in 1500 species. Here's the kicker:- Homophobia exists in only ONE species, and that's humans. The only issues that arise with it are human-created. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals

When you masturbate, your testosterone levels go down, which has a slew of side effects. Increased testosterone, in turn, has a slew of benefits.
I don't think everyone in here is giving up masturbation, but just porn. Some of us are doing it out of respect for girlfriends as well.
