So uh do you have anything to back your claims up? And I'm not talking about some "studies" on some obscure website, but peer reviewed stuff done by actual experts
The papers aren't done by yourbrainonporn, only linked to by them.
Not my point, I seriously question the credibilety of the authors of those studies
I didn't really start with the rest of you but I wasn't addicted or anything, just think I've been doing it too much. I have found that hitting the weights and exercise in general make it more bearable, I am determined to go for at least a month without it.
Hey guys, just thought I'd throw an update in on my dysfunctional cock.
This has been a good week or so for me, I've been able to get hardons and I almost had sex with my father's secretary, but I realized I was just being a horny bastard and I had a regular conversation instead.
I've made advancements to get back together with my ex-girlfriend and she is complying well. She added that she'd like to join me on a vacation to western Canada to visit the mountains and lakes. I know she would love it there, as I do. I hope to propose to her when we take part in that vacation, which I plan to book for the summer of 2013.
Wish me the best of luck, fellow fap-withstanding facepunchers.

If anything the credibility of the authors is the last thing you should be worried about.
Now where the hell did you get that list from?
On their side I only found this, and most off that stuff is extremly sensationalistic and/or taken out of context.
Alright, Im just going to throw my 2 cents in here.
As far as the benefits go for quitting porn, there may very well be none at all. It could of course all be placebo. Even if it was, the effects were still there, you are still affected by placebo, therefore, quitting porn would be a good habit to pick up. It has been a week since I last watched porn, and I have only masturbated once. Since then, I have noticed significant changes in mood, behavior, confidence, control, focus, and most importantly, motivation. But why is motivation so important you ask? That is because this thread was merely a stepping stone towards betting my lifestyle. Quitting porn may not have affected my mentality as stated above, but it DID motivate me to do other things that would.
I started going to bed earlier, thus I have more energy. I started exercising more, now I feel more focused, aware, and peaceful. I started waking up each morning by drinking a glass of milk and a bottle of water, maybe even some tea. I feel no urge to eat unhealthy things, and I have been eating an apple a day since then. I am more sociable, and I have fixed my posture, I'm not lying when I say I get looks from girls at school even more now. I made it my daily goal to compliment a different girl every day. My voice grew deeper, I picked up kickboxing, I started meditating, and I can become friends with any girl and make the whole class laugh with my jokes. I never plan on watching porn ever again, and I only plan on masturbating once a week.
Mind you, this is all after one week. I can't imagine how my life will be after a year.
Quitting porn was probably one of the best things I have ever done. I do feel that is unhealthy to stop masturbating completely, but I also feel it is unhealthy to masturbate once a day. I used to do this as well, but it made me look forward to it, I would use it to cope with stress and depression. I believe someone can get addicted to masturbation in the same way they can to porn. There are sex addicts in the world, that suffer severe social problems in serious cases. So naturally there has to be masturbation addicts, and by taking away porn but saying its okay to fap away may lead someone to such an addiction. One of my best friends was addicted to masturbation, he would masturbate sometimes 18 times in one day. He then had to go to the hospital because his doctor noticed abnormal spinal growth.
As far as quitting overnight, its totally possible, and that is with every addiction. My uncle was a heavy smoker, he would smoke about 2 packs a day, a complete addict. Until one day he said to his son "You know, people back then must have been idiots, they were smoking like crazy and they didn't even know the risks." so his son says back "You want to know who's an even bigger idiot?" "Who?" "The people who continue to smoke today, knowing all of the risks." My uncle then looked at his pack of cigarettes, and threw them into the fireplace. He never smoked again.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion, and reveals the reason behind some of the claims made in the OP.

You could take more than five seconds and look at the links at the bottom. Google's a pretty neat site.
Let me walk you through it in case you're still having trouble.
First click on a link to a section.

Next go to the bottom and click a link to an actual summary

After that, you click a link that says "full source"

Sometimes you might have to use that white matter that's rapidly disintegrating and find the article yourself

Really porn only effected any of that by possibly sapping your motivation. You chose to change the rest of your life as well as choosing to stop looking at porn.
I stopped porn myself and I still act about the same. I just don't hate myself for masturbating now.

Addictions aren't at cause physical, they're mental/experiential.
Neurochemistry on the other hand isn't a 'cause' - it's an effect, and a physical one.
I once saw a study by top researchers who 'proved' that if you danced in a certain way in a club, you could attract more girls. It's fucking baloney. If you try to explain experiential things scientifically you can almost always invent evidence that proves it, with a little bit of creativity.
This is absolutely dumb, sorry everyone
why you would even do this to yourself is beyond me but do what you gotta do I suppose

Affected*
That's the point I was trying to make. People were arguing over the fact that porn made all of these wonderful changes to their life, while others thought that it was bullshit. That's because quitting porn will have a different effect on everyone. For me, I got motivation to better other areas of my life. This may not apply to everyone, which is why some say that all of the benefits are false. However, no one can truly know how quitting will affect them, which is why I wanted people to see the reason behind the possible benefits, and not just taking it for granted because a couple people didn't believe in it.

Unless I'm mistaken, a correlation is still a correlation.

Well that sounds like everyone should try this, but that's their choice.
At first I was like "yeah whatever who cares", but he had me convinced at hypofrontality.
I haven't jerked it in 4 days, and I feel a little more focused. That is really it, nothing has changed really considering I was working out 2-3 hours everyday for wrestling and I study a lot anyways. I think it was probably good to stop because I don't want E.D., and I was starting to get to the point where it was kind of ridiculous.
Its really a matter of sticking to your commitment, if you're just in here to debate GTFO.

I thought this was generally understood. It's irrelevant in context.
Either:
- Dancing in a certain way attracts girls
or
- Guys that attract girls dance in a certain way
If you dance in the certain way, you'll either attract girls, or take on the mindset that you attract girls and act like it via placebo effect.

Or you won't attract girls at all, or you will attract some but for an entirely different reason.. It needn't have anything to do with the dancing at all.
Guys who dance get girls.
Guys who don't dance get girls.
Guys who lift weights erryday get girls.
Guys who have never touched a weight in their life get girls.
Guys who fap everyday get girls.
Guys who never need to fap because they get laid erryday get girls.
Guys who are rich get girls.
Guys who don't have a penny to their name get girls.
My point here is, you can develop yourself a lot more by understanding such things as causality, which is why I brought them up in the first place. Seeking your own answers through experiential observation seems logically much more wholesome than reading some dude's article and assuming it's true.
The idea of masturbating/not-masturbating to influence any larger part of your existence is silly. Striving to master your own mind and existence would be a much better way to spend your time. Not touching your dick doesn't really contribute much if anything to that.
Sure it's great and all if you want to do stuff like this, but on the whole you should be looking at the bigger picture and finding your shit out.
Just thinking about this thread gives me a boner, oh well, back to the nsfw crap.

But the dancing has some effect, clearly - a high correlation means that for most cases, dancing in a certain way is proportional to attraction from females. It might not be the dancing itself, but maybe some feature the dancing causes. Maybe it's because if you dance in the certain way, you sweat less. Maybe the you practice dancing at home, so you gain muscle mass. Maybe the dancing improves your posture. Either way, dancing in the certain way in some form or another is likely to have an impact somehow to cause attraction. It's irrelevant to me how that happens. The only thing a girl at a club sees is you and the way you're dancing - how rich you are doesn't affect if the girl is attracted to you in the context.
I'm mastering "my own mind and existence" by demonstrating self-control, am I not? The hundreds of journal articles and thousands of testimonies are convincing enough to me.
I'm still not sure I fully understand this; so should one never fap to porn/images, and they should only fap once a day?
man im not having any bad effects, too easy
Set me up.
I got a life I want to start.
We're choosing not to do something we chose to do in the first place.

I think that hearing some interesting, constructive conversations is more fun to read than "I haven't looked up porn in x days" or "you people are stupid for doing this".
Either my ED is kicking in, or I'm becoming a lot less horny than I was before. It takes more for me to get a boner now.. Not sure if thats good or bad. :v:

Stop jackin it for a couple of weeks.
You'll pop a boner to the wind brushing up against your pants in no time. :v:
