I masturbated yesterday, it feels so pointless without porn.
It's much better without.
Two weeks today. Doing surprisingly well so far.
It's been a week or so now, I hadn't pulled the pork for a few days before I actually decided to do this but I'm feeling good.
diss i think we need this image at the top of the main page

people don't seem to understand it
I guess I'm still a little confused. So it doesn't cause any of the bad things like ED without the porn? Was that just the mental problem. Also the problem with dopamine surges and things of that nature?
Aaaaand I lost after 2 weeks.
Meh, No porn is easy, No masturbation is damn near impossible.
Alright i'm game lets do this
Quite honestly, this sounds like some kind of aid for porn addiction... I'm not addicted to porn, I just look at it when I wanna wank. Lately I haven't needed it, I guess I'm one of the "Lucky few" who isn't forever alone.
I don't know why you find Porn addiction so strange.
Loads of people are actually addicted to it.
Everyone likes wanking, stop fucking about it.

You don't need porn to fap.

I don't think of it as "strange" I just didn't think that a lot of Facepunch would be porn ADDICTS. Porn addicts are weird people and-..... Oh, yeah, now that I think about it.....

Bodybuilders forum has a large thread too, 300+ pages, buff people are weird too?
Now on day 11 no porn; felt a dip between the 6th day and now. I'm starting to feel better again though.
Fifth day, starting to have restless nights.
I'm just over my second week and feel zero motivation to PMO, at all.
I failed, but i'm starting again. You guys who've succeeded for 2 weeks, what's it actually like? Does it seriously work?
Its not hard at all. Just dont think about it.
Over two weeks without porn. Get's easier everyday.
There is something about this I don't quite understand.
When masturbating, can you still fantasize about women? Not necessarily about porn you've seen, just women in general. Wouldn't this have a similar effect to watching porn?
And haven't people fantasized about women when fapping for centuries? How come this hasn't had the same negative effects as watching porn? Maybe I'm missing something here.
You know what, though? Even if this is all bullshit and won't help with anything, I'm in. It can't do any actual harm to me, and I feel as if I need some change in my life. So yes, after today (1st of May, 2012) I will stop watching porn entirely. Fapping will be done in moderation. Let's see how long I last.

The idea is that when you watch porn, the stimulation comes from outside. Your brain doesn't care if it's just a picture or a real woman sitting on top of you, it just had sex.
If you use your imagination, your brain isn't processing that in the same way, it knows that it isn't real. All that happens subconciously, of course.
In moderation, this doesn't have much of an effect, but do it often enough for a longer time span and your brain starts thinking that you're the greatest womanizer ever that bones every girl he sees (even if all you do is sit on your computer masturbating).
Mind you that this isn't coming from a brain surgeon or psychologist, but it's my understanding of the matter.
I'll try.

So if I listen to a song, I just experienced whatever was in the song? If I watched a horror movie, I just killed a bunch of people? Porn is just as fictional as any other type of entertainment, and your mind knows this.
I might just do this. I look at porn a lot. Atleast once a day, it's not really that often I fap to it though. I don't think this'll be too hard. Just have to stop looking at a certain few threads on fp and stop giving in to my urges. I know I can easily not fap if I want to.
One week in, and the no-porn part of the deal is FINALLY starting to get a little bit challenging. Not too bad yet though?
IM READY.
IT BEGINS NOW.

Actually no. There are a set of neurons that fire and behave the same way as they do when you observe an action, and par take in an action. Mirror neurons behave the same way when you watch or have sex, they can't tell the difference.

So watching porn, in some areas of your brain your neurons are behaving as they would if you are actually having sex.
Mirror neuons are believed to go hand in hand with empathy.

This is correct.
This is the reason people sometimes move to react to something on tv. Whether it's a soccer match, or a scary movie, or w/e.
I don't get what is so hyped about this, it is the same thing like you would watch porn or not, I tried this out and I can't comparison it at all because it is exactly the same, you can get the same or higher value of pleasure from a release whether or not you are watching porn on your screen or not.

I don't really agree with you here. To me at least the release is a lot more intense when watching porn than it would otherwise be. I also can't last for quite as long as I do when I'm not watching porn.
Also, one day into not watching porn. I don't think this will be so hard, it's only a matter of self-control.

That is awesome. Except that applies to everything ever. Deep down at our core we are instinctual children but that isn't what makes it to the surface. Did you also know everything introduced to your brain is immediately regarded as fact until your brain processes it and rejects it? You are just spinning something to make it fit the mold of porn is evil.
Hey guys today on my sixth no porn forever day, GIRLS SEEM MORE INTERESTED IN ME! Also most of my social anxiety is gone!

Sir, we are not tagging porn as the "EVIL HORRIBLE THING". We are experimenting, since we know how males act when they use porn daily, we want to know how males would perform if they did not use at all.
We want a conclusion to the all mighty hypothesis, should males view porn? Yes or No.
Its like a science project.
Yeah I might as well try for this. add me to the list.
