The World at War. Great WW2 documentary, I think it's 25-30 parts and about 40 minutes a part. Made during the 1970s so there's lots of interviews etc.
I love Psych.
my mom ran out of things to watch on netflix and now shes on like season 5 or someting of psych and the one i saw most recently was the nanny episode. I just dislike that actor, and i hate the theme.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
It's similar to Seinfeld but more over-the-top.
Battlestar Galactica (Modern)
OH FUCK!
I FORGOT SAMURAI JACK!
I gotta recommend MLP here, but if you do watch it, make sure your first exposure to the show is not either of the first two episodes, they are pretty "meh" in my opinion compared to the rest of the series.
Also, if you like sci-fi, I recommend the various Star Trek serieses they had. Good stuff.
Batman: The Animated Series
-The best superhero television show ever made in my opinion. Great art style, music, writing, and voice acting.
To the Swedes reading, see the Swedish dubbed version too. They did a great job at making the dubbed version not feel out of sync, and many of the voices although widely different from the English version still feels very fitting to their characters. Although I love Mark Hamill's Joker, I also really love the Swedish Joker, with his voice making the joker sound much more sleazy and malicious.
The Twilight Zone
Breaking Bad
Life on Mars UK
Red Dwarf
Spaced
The Peter Serafinowicz Show
1st season of Prison Break. Don't bother after that.
Torchwood and Luther. Brilliant British shows.
Speaking of brilliant british shows: The Shadow Line. One of the best I saw in my entire life.
Twin Peaks.
Sadly it got a bit shit during the second season, but then just as it started getting good again, it got cancelled.
No one has mentioned Top Gear. What makes this show amazing from most to least important:
-The witty presenters and chemistry between them (Jeremy, James and Richard)
-Humor
-Cars
-Filmography
-Music
Keep in mind you don't have to like cars to watch this show, but if you do even a little, then you are in for a real treat (but you're probably already watching it if you like cars).

I guess its because all my friends watch it.
24, Firefly, Breaking Bad, Battlestar Galactica, Fringe and Suits.
I would definitely recommend Jericho - it ran from 2006-2008 with only 2 seasons (29 episodes I believe), but it is great. I only started watching last week and I'm on the last episode of season 1.
It's about a small town after nukes go off in major cities and how the town tries to survive with limited resources. It gets even better mid-series one.
I would also recommend Community, Game of Thrones and Dexter.
I'm not going to give descriptions of all these shows. However, what I will tell you is that if you see a show in my list that you enjoyed, it is likely that you will enjoy the other shows within that same category.

Can't find Red Dwarf on the internet.
The Mentalist, I've been hooked since Season 2.
Also How I Met Your Mother is a pretty good alternative to Friends.

Skins (UK)
The Walking Dead
My Name Is Earl
The Mighty Boosh (Backing up Scum)
Mythbusters
Facejacker (I only watch this for Terry Tibbs and Dufrais)
Mystery Science Theater 3000.
It was so glorious a show, yet hardly anyone has heard of it, infact, they still make fun of movies in the form of Rifftrax.
Is this actually good?
I've heard some people say it's the British Big Bang Theory, which makes me think it's terrible.
The IT Crowd is not shit like Big Bang Theory.
Stargate Atlantis, Startrek TNG (where the ipad was invented), ugly americans, definatly futurama, eurika so they can understand that the big bang theory is utter garbage, and warehouse 13
